Because he underplays. It's just not necessary to make a big song and dance of things all the time. I'm hoping that they'll give him some showstoppers to belt out soon though. I would SO pay to see that.

yes I have said likewise - I seem to have posted so much on this subject but I really would be thrilled to see Lee perform as Joseph - it would be money well spent. I pray for them to choose show songs for the remaining Josephs to belt out - this is where Lee will shine - ALW read this - we will pay to see Lee - and not to see Chris!!!!!

It is about bums on seats at the end of the day. It's a commercial venture. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm getting the impression that there wouldn't be a shortage of tickets sales were Lee to win.

How fantasic was Lee in last nights show?
His performance just captivated me, subtle but just beautiful.

There's one particular 'YOWZER!!! ' moment during that routine. If you recorded it - watch towards the end when they're on the stairs. Jus' sayin'. Not that I'm shallow or anything.

I was going to post last night about the blue tshirt and jeans - was trying to concentrate on the performance, honest!

Just watched him again on video (my husband cannot believe I taped it as well as watched it), still gives me shivers and I still want to be that girl on his lap .

I haven't posted on this thread before. I've always thought Lee was excellent, but yesterday was the first time he made me sit up and listen. The first section of his song was beautiful (and I didn't even mind that he wasn't quite in tune) and I really agreed with whichever of the judges commented on how he didn't let rip in the second section... it was such a subtle performance. With Seamus gone, Lee and Daniel just seem a class above everyone else.

I really hope Lee wins.

Lee just does it for me. Although Daniel is good, he's just not as charismatic as Lee. He'd be the perfect Joseph. ALW please note...he'll sell tickets!

I suspect you've hit the nail on the head. I've read a fair few comments about how subtle he is, and Bill Kenwright picked up on it as well as you say. He's in a class of his own acting ability wise. And, yes, the poster who also said that hearts were breaking everywhere probably got it right as well.

Lee has been my favourite from week 1. Now that Seamus has gone, and with my growing dislike on Daniel, I'm more certain than ever that Lee HAS to win.

There really is nobody else with that kind of subtlety, even though a fair few of them are very talented. Daniel was far from subtle in The Lady is a Tramp. He does sing beautifully, and I do like him, but he's not half the actor Lee is. All we need now is a show stopper to let everybody see that he can let rip when he needs to. If he can do that (and I have no doubts at all) then he really is the complete package.

froglet, that is exactly what I am thinking. I do think Daniel has got a good voice, but I'm yet to see him express any great emotion. I'm yet to see him do anything other than smile. That's all very nice and enjoyable to watch, but I'm much more impressed with Lee and the versatility he is showing. And, yes, I want to lead a campaign to hear a belter of a song from him.

completly agree with you. it was interesting when Daniel chose 'joy' last week, it's a much easier emotion to convey.

I can see why people prefer Daniel to Lee. He has a fabulous voice, but for me I can never find a musical theatre performance compelling if it isn't acted out well with great emotion. For me Lee has that acting and performance ability, as well as being able to draw an audience 'in', in spades.

I'd like to hear him sing 'Why God Why' from Miss Saigon. I believe that I shall be waiting a long time to hear him sing that in this show though. Honestly - I'm not fussed. Just a thwacking great number that shows off his voice and I'm happy. Easily pleased I am.

Not a great fan of the "Lord" but if it must be one of his, I'd prefer "High Flying Adored" from Evita.

My taste is for timeless classics such as those by R&H or Cole Porter.... my choices would be: "Blow Gabriel, Blow" from Anything Goes or "I'm A Bad, Bad Man" from Annie Get Your Gun

I think Lee is far and away the best of the group. He's the only one who has the stage presence, the voice, and the acting skills to pull off a West End musical.

I'm glad to see that there's a Live Journal comm for him.
