Will trance ever make a comeback?
Do you think trance will ever make a comeback in the UK or has it gone the way of Acid House and Rave and gone to that great dance club in the Sky?

Depends on which clubs you go to, Trance is still out there, check out new releases on Hard To Find Records, I'm more into Hard Trance as I like an edge. Will it be commercial again as it was in the late 90s? I doubt it, old classics like Cafe Del Mar, For An Angel, Saltwater, Barber's Adagio, Madagascar, 9pm, Field Of Dreams, etc, are used in mainstream TV programs and as Muzak in shops.

Trance is still big, just not commercially - which is no bad thing

I don't think trance will ever make a comeback (in terms of quality, let alone commercial success), at least not until some creativity and originality is brought back into the genre. People just aren't trying very hard to make something that doesn't sound like everything else.

Psytrance is better than Trance IMHO, and that is going quite strong, with refgular nights on in London, and the Glade Festival being a showcase for Psytrance, amongst other forms of dance music. Check out - Asterix, Hydrophonic and of course Infected Mushroom.
Also Hard Trance is still going, Turnmills club in London play it a lot. Lab4 are good artists in this genre, and they play a good "Live" show. I went to the HArd Dance awards in Brixton Academy in London and a lot of what was being played had a trance edge to it as opposed to being pure Hard House. |

![]() as a trance DJ I take offence to that The problem with trance is that people think its chavy because of crap like Cacada, DJ Sammy etc, I have been to a proper trance club where the clientel is far more trendy than your average branded bar/club and The Thrillseeker, Darren Tate, Armin Van Buuren and Tiesto are still making masterpieces its just you canty make a 8 mintue track into something that the radio stations want to play, they justb want your 3 minute tracks There is still good trance out there, you just have to look for it Last edited by Longboy : 19-04-2007 at 15:13. |

Dave Pearce's Dance Anthems on Sunday nights (Radio 1) seems to be playing more music from the 97-01 era rather than newer stuff - I guess it's just not as popular as it was back then unfortunately.
R'n'B, Hip-Hop and Urban is taking over the charts along with some Indie stuff. I'm hoping one day it'll go back to dance. Last edited by Ant L : 20-04-2007 at 16:39. |

Urban is rubbish, my fav tunes at the moment are Nu-School breaks - Soul of Man, Plump DJs, JDS, Rennie Pilgrim etc. Now that is good dance music!
