But it is a job interview, just a long winded one. He hires someone at the end for a job.

Thing is, he is worth £800,000,000 , he knows what he is doing, and as it might just be a tv show to him its more money, i doubt he's doing it hoping to get a great business person from it, he will be looking at the money side to him, while maybe getting someone worth hiring,

I think I made the same point a couple of weeks ago. The "job" is a year or so of the "prize" and is not a real job although Sir A will probably manage to make some money out of it as is his way.
It's one of the best, if not THE best, reality games shows on TV though, don't you think? |

![]() In fact, I am almost surprised that Sir Alan allows the cameras in. |

It's a bit of both - playing predominantly more as an 'entertainment' show this time around, with the larger than life characters making it through. Would you honestly sack Gerri over Jadine following last weeks boardroom ? (more rhetorical question). The actual job itself seems less and less important than the journey there - the first apprentice left after 2 years and Michelle left after only a few months. Sort of undermines the entire premise...

In American Apprentice, I get the feeling they go on to a proper job and a proper career with Trump's business. Here, I get the feeling it is not real; it is not business; it is both PR and game show.
Maybe I'm wrong: I don't know how the Trump apprentices have done; I would though, hazard a guess he still has some of them with him. |

As a current employee, either in Trump's or SAS' businesses, how would you feel if some spotty upstart who had won a reality TV show and was now earning double or tripple your salary suddenly came along and started working beside or even above you? I suspect the truth is the winners get some sort of 'shadowing' role where they follow a senior manager or director around or perhaps conduct a review of a part of the business rather than actually get involved in the day-to-day running. I'd be very surprised if SAS or Trunp actually pay their salaries, unless they also get some sort of cut of the money the program makes in return.

Bill (Series 1) is still overseeing Chicago Trump Tower last I heard.
Having done some research - I see that he's now left Trump...oops. Last edited by Blokee : 19-04-2007 at 15:17. |

I think Sugar is playing with the programme, he is a clever man and knows exactly what he is doing. Whether this is reality T.V or a job interview Sugar is making money hand over fist and that is the point.
I am sure that if the person he hires at the end is really worth it and is good then they would stay for more than a year, you don't let someone who is good for the company go, just because they won from a T.V show, it's not good for the money figures. |
