Sim free phones are widely available, both on the net and in phone shops. Once you have decided which handset you want, you should shop around for the best price.

cpw usually supply sim free phones no matter what network you buy it on - check before purchase though

Several.

First you should be able to use any networks SIM.

Second you are not locked into a contract for 12 or 18 months.

Third greater choice of phones.

There used to be some good SIM only deals around but most have now disappeared so SIM free is not always the good deal it used to be.

Three will give you talk and text 600 for less than a pound a month...

Care to elaborate or post a link, I can't find anything that good on the Three website.

Also no annoying network branding.

Intheknow - wouldnt you need to have an unlocked 3g handset to take advantage of that offer? I was under the impression the 3g handsets were a lot more expensive than so called 'standard (2g and 2.5g)' phones.

Of course! You would need a sim free phone, it could be the end of your 3g contract and you are happy to continue with them on a sim free contract, or you could buy your own handset for £400 or something.

It makes me laugh when I hear guys bragging to their mates that the network gave them a posh phone for "free", no they didn't you're paying £40 a month you twonk. That's over £700 in 18 months !!, or just over double the price of the phone sim free.

Think about how much you're pissing down the drain month in, month out in an 18 month contract.

You need to phone Three to ask about sim free contracts and see what deals they can do, tell them you already have a 3g handset, and get them to quote you a price. It's better if you already have a Three account, it's coming up to the end of your contract and you buy a new sim free phone instead of upgrading though them. They gave me 500 minutes and 100 texts for £4, not per month, £4 for the year!

I've saved £250 over the life of the contract, you can upgrade when YOU want, if you decide to move you can just phone another network and see what they will offer you to come to them on a sim free contract. Oh and the phone is completely unbranded and unlocked.

Yea, I was offered a £200.00 credit by 3 when I phoned up to cancel and half price line rental for talk and text 600 for 6 months.

But as my handset was starting to suffer from problems I chose a new Nokia 6288, £70.00 credit and four months free line rental.

Sim free mobiles are expensive because the price is not subsidised by the service provider. If you want a particular model then buy it on unlocked on eBay or you'll end up paying an arm and a leg for it from CPW.

Dont need to get a sim free phone, just unlock your old phone and download the new wap setting s from your new provider, or just leave it unlocked so you can use any sim card, if you dont want wap settings, as you can see i am just changing mine from orange to o2, however it will work with any sim card. why waste money on a new phone, when unlocking is cheaper?

I have learnt alot in the last 3 hours lol

£110 for a Samsung E250??....why bother when you can get one for half that price and then get it unlocked for less than a tenner.

i bought the samsung e250 from Carphonewarehouse on orange for £70 - THEY ARE COMPLETELY SIM FREE as i am now using it with my t mobile contract sim. If you don't believe me go in and ask one of the sales people to bring one ot. The boxes are not covered in operator logos, nor the phone either.

Thats because CPW use unlocked stock and just give you the SIM card for whatever network you're buying it on with it.

my point was, why spend £110 buying one from that website, when you can spend £70 and get one with a sim card and £10 credit to use as you will.
