VAT is applicable on each which gives you £25 and £5 respectively, so I get my 500mins and 100 texts for £20 per month.

As regards the free N95 I really wasn't expecting that. The guy on the phone said that they were usually £130 on my package but he would see if he could get me it for free. I told him if he could get the price down a bit that would be great, if he managed to get me it for free I'd give him a round of applause.

He put me through to another guy who said that giving me the phone for free wasn't a problem because I had enough loyalty credits or something on my account to cover it, but he would have to reduce the credit on my account to £30.(I had previously been given a Sony Ericsson W850 on the same package with a £credit on my account of £55 but had sent it back because the camera sucked)

At this point it was all I could do not to squeal in his ear and I agreed very happily, put the phone down and bounced around like Zebedee on speed. ”

well that is good for you, but what about new customers?
£20 gets them 50 mins or £45 gets them 400 mins, or virgin gets them 300 mins for just a £20 or only £10 if you subscribe to any of there services.

Through my own fault I've been stuck on the same service plan for years, and considering I text more than I phone I have been paying over the odds each month.

I'm interested in the discounts you mentioned as I wasn't aware of this, does one need to ask before they are offered? Also, if you don't mind me asking which tariff are you on please that afforded you the free N95?

Thanks”

My friend has their broadband and he hates it, I am with virgin which is great during the day its around 9.2meg to 9.6meg but of the evening can be around 5meg. Wednesday it was just 1.5meg, but at least it has never dropped.

oh dear, more problems
they phoned up today said I owe them £160.
After talking for 20 minutes I eventually convinced him that is wrong, he said he will phone me back.
He did phone back and admitted there was an error there of £85.
So I owe them £75 now, how the hell do orange find an obscure figure and stick it on your account and say you owe them it, if I hadn't of fighted them I will now be giving them £85 too much, I wonder how many unsuspecting people have had similar instances on their bills.

THEY PHONED ME TOLD ME I OWE £165, after 20 minutes of talking he admitted it was a mistake on their side.

HOW THE HELL CAN I BE THE ONE THAT CALLED THEM AND I HAVE AN ATTITUDE, WHEN THEY CALLED ME AND THEY ADMITTED THEY MADE A MISTAKE ?????????

You are the one that told me Virgin cant be that great when the post before I was moaning about them, so whatever opinion you have I don't care.

That is two mistakes you have made now.

Orange used to have a healthy research department but they dont really invest in their Network/Tecnical Infastructure anymore.

France Telecom took on a huge amount of debt to pay for the Orange takeover. Due to them still being the telecoms monoploy in France like BT was, their employees' jobs are procted by the Government over there. So whenever France Telecom needs to make cut backs Orange suffers as a result.

Having spent just 6 weeks at Orange it was clear that the company is a complete and utter shambles.”

A couple of days ago I would have said "Yeah, yeah, yeah" and dismissed your post. But today has been one which I wish to forget. I've spent hours trying to get my K800i working on WAP and internet (POP mail retrieval). I've even been unable to call Orange.

I e-mailed Orange from work before 07:30 and got a reply a few hours later saying that my problem was far too technical to dealt with by e-mail, could I please call them. I was on hold for at least 15 minutes and when I eventually got through I was told that there was a major 3G problem in the Bristol area and that the problem was being looked at. This call, taken by very unprofessional person cost me 25p, only 25p but there is a principle at stake. Why am I charged for a call only to be told that there is a major 3G problem in the same postcode area as their Bristol HQ? And the problem lasted for most of the day, no calls or data from 0630 to 1630 at least. A major problem that their e-mail staff did not know about. A problem, especially regarding data, that has been steadily getting worse each day. As at 1930, the engineers seem to have fixed the problem and 3G data access is faster then I've seen it in a long time.

I really don't know why I bother with mobile phones. I'm now thinking of putting all my SIM cards one by one into my very old 6310i and using up all existing credit. Then throw the @#*$@ thing away.

I had a problem with Vodafone WAP/3G etc not so long ago. 4 days I waited patiently and it was sorted! Didn't cost me a penny calling CS, i didn't speak to some poor sod who is trying there best to help, it was a calm, stress free experience which has left me with no long term HATRED!! Unless ur fone is life and death to you, why get so worked up about short term problems. Pointless, life is to short.

Agreed, 10 years with Orange, I mistakely went to 02, rubbish service, back to Orange and they've been fantastic, better signal both at work and home, better CS by far and a great deal with a Sony W850i, free 1gb card, free bluetooth handet, 500 minutes and unlimited texts anytime. £35pm normally and I got it for £25pm.

Cool!

10/10 Orange, here's to the next 10 years.

I can here the flaming coming from miles away but I'm just reporting my experience.

I notice how people have difference prefrences of network. But to be honest a lot of people on here complain about O2, which i have never had a problem with and every time i have had a problem, it has been dealt with promptly and in a professional manner

Some people have good experience some have bad with any network. Its the way it is.

I've never had a problem with the Orange network itself, in terms of call quality, which is why I stuck with them for over 8 years. It's just the customer service that has gone down-hill in the last couple of years, plus the fact that their entry-level talk plans now cost £20/month (I was paying £12 / month back in 2000). I even ended up on OVP Virgin for from Mid-2001 until March 2005 which was the perfect solution to my problems. In 2005 I went for a 3G contract at £15/month, with the intention of going back to OVP Virgin after 12 months. However Orange refused to do this so I tried to get onto 3G just Talk and ended up on 2G.

They seem to be seeking increased ARPU (average revenue per user), and don't seem to want to cater for those who want a low-cost contract any more.

With un-metered land line calls nowadays, it makes more sense for me to spend an hour talking landline-to-landline at 5.5p/hour than for me to pay £35+ per month to get similar call volumes on a mobile. On off-peak JT, 20p would get me a 1 minute off-peak call to a BT landline. On BT off-peak, 20p will get almost 3 hours to another landline.

10 years ago, the idea of an 18-month minimum-term contract would have been laughed out of the room. But today, people accept it.

Yes, I'm disappointed with Orange, but I'm not fuming. I just think there are now better-value alternatives for a low-usage mobile customer like myself, and that the France Telecom take-over has done more harm than good for the UK customer.
