Dr Who - Missed it
Phil S
21-04-2007
Last week Dr Who was on at 7.40pm, so I sat down to watch the Dalek episode this week and hey presto it's finished.

Irk - Why do they mess around with the times like this - Doh!

It's on BBC 3 tomorrow and no doubt all the newsgroups tonight.

will be downloading as soon as it hits the net. bloody bbc changing the schedules. Was exactly teh same with channel 4, I stopped watching a lot of shows because of this, ended up downloading them months later anyway (no revenue to network producers though)

Newsgroups? Do you mean that or Torrent Sites?
hassan

it will show up on both.

if you have a premium usenet service, you should be able to download at top speeds, if you don't, you can download from torrents.

I think it will show up on newsgroups first

I'm sorry but you can't blame the BBC! You should take it upon yourself to make sure you check the timings for programmes! Plus, it's been trailled all week all over BBC TV and BBC Radio saying 6.35 so there you go!

You could always get a Freeview PVR and got through the listings every week and just select what you want to record - you won't miss a thing then!

I am suitably reprimanded! I'll watch it tommorrow.

Why can't you blame the BBC? They do the schedules. You don't see Eastenders changing time each week

but Saturday's have always never kept to the same time-slot, hence why you are reminded to check listings or have a series link for the show.

and why do people always as "Missed it when is it repeated" when EVERYONE knows its repeated on BBC3 twice before the next episode, with a likely catch up week of the first few shows coming in a few weeks.

Firstly, not everyone knows, just most people. And what about the people who still only have the basic 5 channels (not freeview, sky or cable). They only have 1 chance.
The only reason I knew the time had changed was because of digiguide. I very rarely watch BBC any other time, and never listen to BBC Radio

There's still the old, tries & trusted technology - TV listing mags, TV listings in the daily newspapers, TV listings in the Sundays, analogue Ceefax and Teletext TV listing pages ......

That is true. But when I watch a series, regardless what night it is on, I at least expect it to keep to the same time, and not be moved around for what I regard as lesser programming

Of course, but never under-estimate the mind of a TV Scheduler, you should really expect them to chop & change. Anyway, it is up to you to check the listings, especially when one man's "lesser programming" is another man's "masterpiece" (not everyone actually likes DW you know).

That's why I said, 'What I regard as lesser programming'

Apparently next week's episode has been moved again - starting at 6:45pm!

Yeah. They should really make every TV show exactly the same length. Wouldn't be a problem then, would there

Why can't the continuity announcers speak sense, along the lines of:

"Next week's episode can be seen at the slightly earlier/later time of...", as they used to in days of old - instead of blabbering complete and utter drivel, as they do now.

Maybe if the programme was shown in the autumn, things would be in a more stable timeslot - then again, maybe not!

BBC and ITV have "fluid scheduling" rather than "stripped scheduling" as in the US where every thing is pretty much on at the same time week on week on network TV...a tip is: check the DW website for the start time (football permitting)

The Episode dated 12th May will also be moved due to The Eurovision Song Contest in which The National Lottery will be shifted back

It's common sense to check the listings each saturday.

If BBC1 had been showing Doctor Who at the same time every week since series one then maybe you would have a point. But they haven't, so you don't.

Pure laziness in my opinion.

Fair comment but the OP has Freeview according to the profile.
