Got to be a "special" Joseph to make it my yearly London theatre treat!
I loathe going to the City & I hate public transport but as I'm an amateur operatic "Drama Queen" I make the effort to go to London once a year to see a musical for my special birthday treat. Now this takes us two hours travelling either side & costs over £200, (train fares, tickets, meal etc).
In the past I've seen; Phantom of the Opera Mama Mia My Fair Lady Mary Poppins Chitty Chitty Bang Bang I am considering Joseph but to be honest imo the leading man would have to be pretty special for us "Joe Blogs" to spend our hard earned cash & time going to see it So for me he's got to be; good looking/attractive have a decent body, (don't forget he strips to a loin cloth & I don't want to be cringing with disgust/embarrassment) a fantastic singer a good dancer a fantastic stage actor have charisma/stage presence be believable! I know it's a lot to ask but that's what I expect, or we ain't spending the money .A lot of the "Josephs" have lovely voices, are cute etc but I want the whole package & so far there are only a couple that cut the mustard for me. (Obviously there is time for others to raise their game). I want to see some proper acting & dancing & let's have some decent musical songs instead of pop pap too! This is my take on the issue but obviously everyone has differing views, what do you think? |

I just feel I've "been there, seen that "with both Grease and Joseph.
If I make an expensive trip to a musical in the West End, it will be to see something new (to me) or my favourite leading man in a new (to him) role. |

I must say id love to see Joseph, but it was just on tour up here in January, and i feel it would be wasting a "Slot" seeing something we have seen already. That said, we have got all 5 of our shows booked up not so we can't add more anyway

I take it you haven't spotted your ideal Joseph yet from this bunch.....how about Lee? I'm not much of musicals fan at all, & like you it has to be a spectacular one. The last time I went to one was to see Jesus Chris Superstar, I think 96-97. That was fantastic & very touching at the end...wonder where is Steve Balsamo these days? Now...if Lee wins I might just go for it & see Joseph, the one play I never in a million years would have thought of paying money to see. Last edited by andallthatjazz : 23-04-2007 at 17:05. |

Can I just ask, roughly how much an average ticket for Joseph (starring the winner of ADWD) would cost? How much was one for The Sound of Music, with Connie?

) and they're top price in the front stalls - £50 each I think.

Joint 2nd Seamus & Lewis. My secret "awwww" is Chris. The trouble is we have not seen them dance or act in what I would call any proper sense, so I shall hold off voting until then. I shan't go & see it if someone I find unattractive & undeserving wins. I'll go & see "The Sound of Music" instead; if we can get tickets that is - I've heard they are gold dust! |
