Has anyone got one of the play.com MP3 players? They are currently selling for £22. Just wondering if they are any good for a simple no frills music player.

I got a Logik 4gb mp3/wma player and it is excellent. I paid 30 pounds for it.

I would think it would be good too judging by my experience.

I now feel very ripped off paying £100 for a 1Gb iPod, and £20 for a case.

You get what you pay for. These cheap MP3 and MP4 players are excellent value for money. But, the iPod has a significantly superior build quality and the UI (including the click wheel) is unique to Apple.

Err... If you want a case, though, £20 is a bit steep. £4 tops.

(I have a 4GB "Chi-pod" that cost £38. Looks just like a 2nd gen nano... in Black... with a big screen... that plays video... Oh, okay then, iPods are a rip-off).

Why bother with an mp3 player, get an mp4 player, as most support mp3.

I got this a few weeks ago and I've been very impressed

Ok, it's not quite as well made as an Ipod, but then it's a lot cheaper in price. Has a nice little TFT screen and rechargeable battery so no messing around buying new batteries.

Another option I was considering was buying a refurbished Ipod mini from that site for £70, but decided to save my money, and my sanity from not having iTunes installed on my machine.

For a Chinese MP4 player, you really shouldn't be paying more than about £30 (delivered) for 2GB.

Although, the one on Play.com looks pretty good for £34.

I have one like this on order:

Yes, that was the one. Bad battery life you say? It says up to 15 hours. How much did you get?

You ought to try some Uniross HYBRIO rechargeable AAA batteries, the current doesn't discharge when not in use, unlike typical NiMH batteries.
