Must be infuriating.”

But if all the threads that someone found annoying was stoped then there would be no threads at all.

You see, as long as people follow the rules of the forum as a whole, they are perfectly free to talk about whatever they want.

Now personally, I'd have no problem with a Dr Who section but to be honest, even though I am a MAJOR old-school Dr Who fan I do most of my Dr Who talk on Outpost Gallifrey rather than here. So I wouldn't use it anymore than this place.

But as I said earlier, the number of threads in here are merrited because the show is massively popular with the general population in a way that none of the other genre shows are.

In fact, it gets more viewers than most of the shows talked about here with perhaps the exception of the two big soaps and Corrie and Enders don't have their own sections.

And to be honest, Digital Spy is more a place for the general audeince than the hardcore fans who are up to nearly 10,000 posts on Outpost Gallifrey.

Excellent post, I completely agree.

*makes mental note to remember her OG login and go back and have a look - not really posted there since the CE's series *

“One is that there are in fact way too many separate Doctor Who threads.”

Untrue. There are as many separate DW threads as the DS Community want to start. That would appear to be exactly the right amount.

Quote:
“Because they will not listen”

Which basically translates as: "This has been suggested to the Forum Adminstrators and they've rejected it. But I'm still going to go on about it." Apart from the fact that this means the whole thread has no point whatsoever since the issue under discussion has already been decided upon, it also makes it, essentially, a public insult to the adminstrators.

Quote:
“Look, people have a right to disagree with my opinion: that's what forums are all about. I just think that DR WHO fans (some, not all) are not being considerate in the way they post multiple threads all over the place. Despite what it appears some people think, this is not the Doctor Who Forum, it's the Cult forum, and there are a lot of other shows besides Dr Who.
Consideration for others, that's all I'm asking, but it seems that's too much to expect.
Fine.”

You're going forward from a false premise. The lack of consideration is your's. You don't like the fact that people are discussing things you don't like. You don't like how they choose to discuss their interests. You want to restrict and control them.

This is not 'considerate'. This is not 'tolerance'. It is beligerence and aggression.

Quote:
“I see there's an announcement re upgrades they're doing at the beginning of May. I can only hope the powers that be take my suggestion (which, though shot down and indeed sneered at by some, has been supported by others) onboard. I'll reserve judgement till then.”

By your admission, your submissions to the DA have been aggresive and repetitive. I'd imagine your's are the last suggestions they'd take on board.

Quote:
“But consider this as a parting thought. Say you hate Metallica, for instance, but find that your local record shop has, in the section marked ROCK, nothing but Metallica albums, complilations, tributes etc. Would you not be annoyed then? It's the same principle.”

No, of course not. Because to be 'annoyed' about that would be deeply immature and childish.
