Hello,

Sorry if this has been discussed before but should I buy a Nokia 6280 or not?

I have heard some people having loads of problems with them, and some having not at all.

Was the problems just with the first batches of the phone?

Do Vodafone put there software on the phone?

If Vodafone do put there software on the phone does it hide Nokia's main menu?

Please give me your thoughts as well if you own the phone.

Thanks,
Stephen.

I've sadly got it. It's really badly rubbish. Mine's ben for repari twice and is broken again (constant SIM errors - it's not the card, since it works in another phone). The screen still blanks out and resets occasionally (that's on the latest fimware on '3').

Thanks for your reply, I have read bad things on other websites, its a shame because it looks nice, nice features but it doesn't work well.

What is a good phone to have that is £120-£170 (apart from the Sony Ericsson K800i).

isnt the 6288 meant to be better than the 6280? better slider, better firmware, better keypad?

I have had it for about 9months on Vodafone and the only problem I have is dust being trapped behind the screen . Other than that it has been very good and I will be sad to see it go that is until I get my N95

I've got it mines fine. It played up for a day the other week but has been fine before and since. I have an unlocked and unbranded model.

Thanks for your replies. Has anyone had problems with it at all on Vodafone?

Is it easy to get the cover off to remove the dust?

I don't think there is many of the 6288 about.

What should I go for Samsung D900 or Nokia 6280?

Have a look at the youtube video that was posted up earlier it looks easy to do and as I have said it is fine for me on Vodafone. If the phone plays up it will more than likely do it on any network but for me it has been fine

Thanks for your reply.

Its mainly the tools you need to do it I am concerned about.

No problems at all?

Samsung D900 or Nokia 6280?

I have never had a Nokia.

My first phone was a Samsung N500 on O2 (bought in October 2002), then I had a Motorola V525 on Vodafone (bought in May 2004).

Then I had a Samsung D500 in July/August 2005 but returned it due to faulty signal quality, I had the same phone for my birthday in January 2006 because I knew it was a good phone (had no problems with signal).

I trod on that (samsung D500) by accident in the PE changing rooms at school, damaged the screen but not the lense (screen cover), bought a Sony Ericcson K750i on Vodafone (Winter 2006), but had the Samsung D500 repaired not long after I had the Sony Ericsson which cost £50 plus postage for us to send it, and postal order commision.

I like my Motorola V525, just a shame it only has 5mb memory and the aerial is beginning to get loose. I love my Samsung D500 but it is getting out of date a bit. My Sony Ericsson I don't like the joystick navigation, the camera is good, but the speaker when playing music is pretty crap.

Sorry I went into detail, that is my mobile phone history. lol.

The Samsung D900 looks nice, the E900 I don't like the screen shape.

The Nokia 6280, thanks for your replies Fudge_Tunnel but I beleive there are some unreliable phones and some perfect, but some shops are difficult on returns if there is a problem.

I would want to stick to Vodafone, the only network I would possibly move to in the future is T-Mobile, but for now I will stick to Vodafone.

The covers well easy to remove. Just remember when you put it back the bottom of it slides up onto the screen it doesn't just clip in place. You slide the bottom on the clip the top in.

Wife has a 6280 on 3 and won;t swap it for anything at the moment. She's had no issues at all with hers .... except for running out of memory card space.

I'd go with Nokia over the Samsung. Samsung tend to have slightly better cameras but you can't use personalised message tones and themes. With the Nokia you can. Nokia phones are the way to go for the fun factor.

You will get some people saying nokia and some saying samsung. The D900 is a nice phone but with a few limitations, namely the message tones. You are unable to use your own tone and can only select from the few on the phone. Samsung have finally got round to letting you choose your own ring tone and it vibrating at the same time something you couldnt do with the D500/600.

The 6280 is a nice phone too and has all the usual cutomisation we have all come to expect with nokia phones.

My personal choice would be the D900 because of the 3mp camera and the TV out capability.

if these reasons dont bother you then go for the 6280 with its more flexible os.

I love being able to use the Theme Studio to make new themes for my Nokia
