Odd - K800i
I just happened to pick up my k800i and play around with the camera after taking several photos i exited the camera mode but i decided to navigate into the menu's and this is when i noticed something odd. In place of the " O2 Home " icon for the internet was a thumbnail, part of it anyway, of a picture my brother had sent me, that WAS NOT on the phone ! [I'd transferred it last night]
To remedy this i switched the phone off as since i bought in a couple of months ago it's been off all of around 2 times, It never gets switched off. This worked. For how long though ... On top of that I've noticed more and more recently that when going into the camera mode by sliding the lens it's doing what my k750i used to do and shows the splash screen then immediatly exist to the desktop If that wasn't bad enough it took 3 long presses of the standby button on the top to get the phone to get it to come back on. Evem with a full battery it wouldnt budge then, 3rd try held it for about 2 seconds and it started up fine. This is my second k800i, first one had a connectivity problem with the headphones. I'm off into town tomorrow time to pay the shop a visit. Point ? Have any of you fellow k800i users out their suffered any problems issues or oddness with your handset ? |

Never had that thumbnail in menu bug. Mine is the T-mobile branded firmware. However, the phone is just like a little computer and if you hardly turn it off after months at a time, you are no doubt going to run into little bugs every now and again. If it was just a simple reboot that fixed it, it isnt that bad... I seriously boubt that the menu icon will change again unless you repeat the exact same steps as you did previously to reproduce the bug.
The splash screen before exiting the menu also happens on my k800 but doesnt bother me at all and is perfectly normal. It only lasts a split second, just like flashes the splash screen then disappears back into standby mode. However, with nearly all SE phones, after you have turned the phone off, you ususally have to wait about 15 seconds before it will turn on again even though the phone seems to be off. This happens on my k800 aswell. I turn it off, and then no matter how long I hold the power button, it wont turn on straight after it has been turned off. However, after about 15s it turns on perfectly fine no problem. There really is no reason to return the phone to the shop. They may be able to flash it to a newer firmware that may fix the menu icon bug, but cant see what else they would do... I have only really run into one problem with my phone over 10 months. I was playing music and opened a large java game at the same time, which I guess the phone couldnt handle both simultaneously and rebooted. Thats about it, it has been flawless with me all other times. Last edited by sitalchauhan : 24-04-2007 at 22:57. |

They will turn you away mate. Those problems aren't faults at all. If switching the phone off and on again sorts it, it just needed rebooting.

Had my k800i the day they were released and to this day the only problem is the coating is wearing off the keypad from constant use. Everything else has been exceptionally reliable(jinxed it now), I would get another one above the upcoming K810i anyday.
