Hello Dean fans! I was looking on You Tube last night for his scenes after he got out of prison but couldn't find the one with Chelsea. I don't suppose anyone has a clip of it do they? I did watch it at the time but can't really remember what happened only that he replied "everything" when she asked what has been done to him. Is that right? Thanks!

Aw that's a shame - be good to see again, can't remember the whole scene. I do wonder how much they will explore his time in prison -hopefully they had a plan for him when they decided to bring him back and this is part of it. Although when browsing You Tube I came across the scene when we learn that Dennis was abused in care but that was never explored further, we didn't get any scenes with him taking about it so we were left to assume what happened. I hope if Dean gets together with Whitney or Stacey he talks about it then as I can't see him opening up to his family about it!

Yeh I'd love to see that scene again, it was so powerful.

I agree, I think there must have been a reason to why Dean mentioned his time in prison - it must be to make the viewers remember and will then be used at a later date.

I'd like to see Dean and Stacey become friends and she could talk to him about what Archie did and he could talk to her about what he went through.

I'm guessing that Stacey might work at the salon so they could get closer then. As long as she's not bitter about his lying about Sean! I wouldn't be surprised if he's the one Whitney has a relationship with too though as I can't think of anyone else Shona could be referring to in the interview she did.

I think it's definitely Dean that Whitney is going to have a relationship with. There is no other possibility with what she was saying.

Just to say that I was flicking through one of the soap magazines this morning and I briefly spotted an article about Stacey returning and getting a new love interest, with a picture of Dean. Can't remember what magazine it was, though, maybe All About Soap. I didn't read any of the details but I thought people in here might be interested.

Thanks Elly. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts off with Whitney but gets with Stacey when she returns. If she's getting a new love interest then there aren't really many options for her either - not many characters in their age range.

I just watched the clip. I'd forgotten about how bad the marks on his arms were. Surely they would scar - wonder if they will be seen or if they will have miraculously healed.

That clip with Chelsea and the other day when he shouted at Shirley certainly insinuate he was raped but whether this will be explored who knows. It's interesting though that according to a couple of people on that thread it's very rare in UK prisons (not that it doesn't happen though).

In that thread you mention something I was thinking in that I'm surprised noone has mentioned what he said to Shirley as everyone heard. Would have been nice to have a little scene with say Nancy and Johnny questioning to each other what happened to him.

Nope, no sign in those scenes. Looking again at the clip with Chelsea, they seem to be on the inside of his arms so I guess we're supposed to assume they have cleared up/or that we can't see them/or forget about them! They're hardly going to put make up on Matt's arms every time he does a scene with short sleeves unless the script calls for it.

Some scars are very faint, especially after 6 years so maybe they'll be seen if it's needed to be discussed.

Yes maybe. I had just been thinking that we'd only seen him with long sleeves when he came on screen in his pj's!

I'm new to this Appreciation Thread! *waves* How fabulous is it to see the lovely Deano (or Dean as he is now...) Wicks back on our screens after so many years!! It was a fair while since he originally left, wasn't it? 2008 according to Wikipedia... doesn't seen that long, amazing how time flies!
Matt is a great actor (and absolutely gorgeous, I have to add!). I love it when characters return after years away, always great to see them back and find out what they've been up to in the meantime. Love Dean's interactions with the Carter family, and hopefully he and Shirley will build up some sort of a relationship in time. And yes, I can't wait for the salon opening!

I loved his return, glad to see him getting on with his Aunt and niece/nephew. I so happy dtc decided to bring him back.

Yeh I can't wait to see the salon. It was great seeing Dean being a proper hairdresser tonight - belt and everything. I love that that's what they've turned him into. I wasn't looking forward to seeing him on a stall again like last time.

Yeh he was in a couple of episodes at the beginning on 2008 - Kevin's funeral and his last episode when he came out of prison (I posted a link yesterday to that episode). It's been so long but doesn't feel like it. Did anyone watch Matt in Hustle? I was watching Series 8 again recently and I forgot how much he impressed me as Sean in it.


Yeh the Tina stuff has come out of the blue - we never saw them meet but they get on so well already. I really like it.
I also like it that they're making Dean a character in his own right too - he's not an add-on to the Carters now, he's going to have his own business, own place to stay etc.


Did anyone else find it weird when Dean said to Aleks last night that he wasn't planning on staying around long? Erm, what about the business you're setting up?

It does seem his hatred for Shirley is not how it was when got punched by Mick, I think he is playing the slow game, and he hasn't totally forgiven her.

No, he hated her so much in those first few scenes.....now it seems as though he's open for some sort of reconciliation. I think it was just years of pent up anger and that had to come out for it to change in some way.

Matt's so good at playing understated - he can say so much with just a look - like tonight with that scene with Tina at the end - you knew that he knew to let her get drunk as it would upset Tosh....who he already doesn't like. I think it's also interesting that Dean's being written as to think about things before he acts - very different from Deano and it shows how Dean's matured. He listens a lot to other people. Can't wait to see what happens next
