Hi blueorange - I think we can all agree with your post. I find his character fascinating too which is the main reason I'm not so keen on the story itself despite the fantastic opportunity it is for Matt.

I just read the Inside Soap interview and I didn't realise that he wasn't specific about the storyline itself. So when he said viewers wouldn't expect what's going to happen I don't know if he just meant the rape itself without knowing that the story would revealed.

Going by twitter, I think the interview/photo shoot was done about 10 days ago so he probably couldn't go into specifics.

Yes it's nice to hear he's happy but I wouldn't put much emphasis on it with regard to his leaving or not. I'm assuming he will be early next year.

I don't entirely agree with the Ryan comments (i agree Dean is a better character though), but it's nice to see someone more impartial than us can see the potential thats now apparently going to be wasted.

I agree with you! Dean is a better character than Ryan and in my opinion Matt is a better actor than Neil! But who knows, maybe they'll come up with a solution to keep Dean in the show, the idea of him in a psychiatric hospital would be a possible way!

I love Ryan, but I agree that Dean's potential is going to be wasted.

I agree, a psychiatric hospital would be the solution. There are 6 years-worth of stories that we don't know about. Dean could have been sectioned before or stuff could have happened that we don't know about in terms of his mental health.

Psychiatric hospital would be nice for a change as prison's already been done. I remember Mad May was arrested and sectioned.

I agree with her about Dean (obviously) but I disagree with her comments about Ryan. I liked him and would like to see him back but written for properly this time. He has great potential when he came into to the show which was never fully realised. He has an interesting past that want explored either.

I do think psychiatric hospital is the only way he could come back into the show. They will have to show him paying for his crime somehow and this is the better option than prison.

It will be interesting to see her reaction. Of course it depends on what actually happens but does she defend him, not believe it could be him, shun him, help him? I guess this is why we're suddenly seeing scenes of them together.

I didn't mind him with Stacey but it seemed to happen a bit quickly. I think Neil gets too hard a time on here (as does Matt) - he did well with what he was given but excelled when he was written as being a bit more sinister.

If Shirley ends up being on Dean's side with this storyline, I can't see it being straight forward...unless he lies?

It's hard to tell with Shirley because of Mick. She will be torn and Dean may not understand why. Tina is close to Dean too so she may take his side. Course this is dependant on the storyline. It may be very straight forward so they all disown Dean but I suspect not based on the articles about it.

Yeh nothing as of yet suggests that Dean will become an evil baddie....

I enjoyed the scenes tonight with Shabnam and Denise. They are definitely trying to show his softer side.

I am the same as you Sez, I just want to know what the future is going to be for Dean. Will he stay or go? It all depends on the circumstances I suppose. It is all ifs and buts at the moment!

I think Shirley might take his side first if she believes it's not true but once the truth is out I could see her rejecting him and if it's the case I'd like to see someone like Denise trying to support him even though she will be so shocked by his actions.

I agree, I'd rather know all the details, but I suppose we'll just have to wait.


Yeh, I still think there's a reason why Dean and Denise are suddenly sharing scenes. I can see her helping him if he needs it - if she sees what kind of state he's in.

Love it! Thanks for the link. Going by twitter, the photo shoot was 2 weeks ago and it sounds as though Matt had already filmed the scenes so I think it will be early October when the storyline happens.

I must say I am getting quite excited about this storyline now, as much as I don't want it to happen and for Matt/Dean to have to leave EastEnders.

Hopefully we will get some spoilers within the next couple of weeks.
