Really interesting episode. Big hint to Mick doing something violent in the past. The writing of Dean is really interesting. He is so deluded - all these stories about meeting a girl then the last scene with Linda.
I agree, Matt's playing Dean's delusional state so well as well. Mick has definitely done something violent in the past.

He's so messed up. It just adds another dimension to this storyline.

I've been wondering why he has invented this story about meeting someone, in the first place?! He wasn't accused of anything by Mick neither he has to justify himself! What do you think? Is it just because he's so messed up and there is no logic at all in his behavior?! Anyway, Matt is doing a wonderful job!

Yes. He does seem on edge since he knocked over his orange juice. I think he does feel some sense of embarrassment/awkwardness/guilt when he's around the family, particularly Mick but it's about the wrong thing. He feels bad about sleeping with Linda but we know and Linda knows that he raped her. Unfortunately because she went into freeze mode, didn't fight back and didn't say anything afterwards, it seems to have reinforced his delusions.

I was wondering whether he was going to go at some point. I was wondering who Donny was, then realised Donny Osmond is a guest judge isn't he!

I get the impression that Dean knows what he done was really bad, but he is trying to cover his tracks in a make belief world he has in his head and he is trying to convince himself that what he done was consensual, hence his conversation with Linda last night.

I am starting to feel quite sorry for him

It is like he is trying to convince himself and other people that he is normal when he obviously isn't.

Ah don't worry - a part of me still cares about Dean too and I never expected to feel that way about a rapist. I agree with the part in bold - he does need psychiatric help.

I do care about him too!! Still wonder how this storyline will unfold though! Hopefully Linda is the only victim!
I will watch Strictly tomorrow, Jake Wood is fantastic!! Didn't realize he would dance so well

Given the situation I think and hope so. The reality is that Dean had an unhealthy infatuation/obsession with Linda for months. When he apologised for the drunken kiss and started dating Lauren, Linda and Nancy naturally assumed things were okay and decided not to say anything to Mick - though Dean reacted badly to Lauren dumping him, he wasn't violent with her. It's almost like his obsession became too much for him and he lost control in that situation (not that I'm condoning it of course) and he clearly misread Linda "loving" and "wanting" him because he was mentally unstable. I almost wish they had played it so that he pushed her backwards onto the table rather than violently taking hold of her and pushing her on the table so that it would fit in better with him "losing control".

Also, remember that this is the first major crime Dean ever committed. He was in prison for lying about Sean attacking Patrick which is more idiotic than anything else. All the other soap rapists were vile in other ways - just cold hearted, controlling, and committed other crimes as well or else had form. This is not the case with Dean. I am saddened that he destroyed his life. When he felt those feelings building up he should have stayed in the sitting room and not gone near the kitchen.

I can't help feeling that Dean genuinely meant it when he thanked Linda for letting him talk on Monday when he was in a bad way but poor Linda, this must be so horrific for her.

Thanks for the spoilers.

This should be interesting. We can't really blame Stacey for not being careful because this is someone she has known for years whom she once had a one night stand with six years previously.

Poor Stacey - I wouldn't want to be in her shoes when she discovers what Dean did to Linda - it would be horrific to find out someone you knew just flipped like that (which is the impression I get in the Dean/Linda case) - maybe Stacey will help Dean see that what he did to Linda was wrong.

I am glad Stacey gets involved, since she has come back I have really enjoyed watching her again. I do wonder where this will all lead.

I think she must play a part in the fall out - I'd like to think she'd realise how messed up he is and perhaps help him realise what he's done.

Same here. I know some posters think that he's pretending he doesn't know what he did but I don't think that's true - I think he's genuinely delusional and thinks it's a one night stand. I remember reading that because Linda froze and didn't fight him off, he read it as him being "just a bit forceful" and the fact that he was on edge at dinner, knocked over the orange juice and was awkward round Mick suggests that he isn't a bad person deep down. Most unusually I care about both Linda and Dean in this storyline. In the JP storyline I hated Finn but cared about JP and Robbie (when Robbie found out the truth)

It's sad that Linda loses it tomorrow - I understand why she is reluctant to divulge the whole truth but maybe she could go half way by saying that some unknown punter came on too strong at the pub and she had to fight him off and it was a scary experience - maybe say that the punter carried flowers and now flowers remind her of the incident. That way she can unburden herself a little without worrying about Mick going berserk.

I wonder if Dean will be in tomorrow's episode.

Okay, thanks.

It feels wrong that I can't wait to see Dean again after what he did to Linda but he hasn't been malicious in any way since he committed the crime and before he committed the crime I was sorry for him.

I know, it's so interesting with the way he has been written because I think a lot of people are thinking like this. They hate him for what he's done to Linda but he's so intriguing and therefore want to see what he does next.

I'm in the camp of "I hate what he's done but I don't hate him" but not many people can do that I guess. I agree he's intriguing though. Interestingly JP and Robbie were the only two characters I liked who were actually sane lol.

I think Dean is very interesting and tbh I commend EE for showing the point of view of the perpetrator while not condoning what he has done. We are seeing both sides and I think this is why they chose Dean, we are seeing him get on with his life, being normal etc , I dont think this would work so well if they had used a disposable villian character who had no family and who we didnt know like they did for Little Mo with that Graham bloke.
