After tonight's episode I have to say I'm a bit bemused with Linda and how the SL is played. I would never imagined I could say something like that but it's getting a bit frustrating and less realistic. I know the rape is recent but still!
In real life according to what I've heard (mainly from my mum who's a psychologist) victims of rape could be classified into 2 groups: the sort of "reserved" ones who are feeling guilty, think they're responsible for what's happened to them and want to hide it from their love ones. They try to carry on as normal. especially just after the crime. However they have mood swings, behave sometimes normally and other times not, but in a subtle way because they don't want to be found out as victims.
And there is the other category of victims who like Linda can't get out of their bed, don't dress up and go into depression. But apparently, for this type of victims, who're aware of what's happened to them and are very scared, the pressure is too strong and the changes in their behavior are so obvious that they will have to confide to a close relative or friend, either on their own initiative or because they're lead to do so.
For me, I thought Linda would belong to the first category and I don't understand why behaving like that, nobody has investigated things further. She probably won't say anything to her mum in the next episode which makes me feel frustrated.
Also at the same time Linda being terrified by Dean should never have ventured to the salon to confront him about Nancy's present.
Lots of contradictions there!
I suppose it's interesting in term of drama but loosing in credibility in term of real life.
After watching tonight, I even found myself thinking the way they were playing the aftermath was mainly to make sure Kellie Bright would win a lot of awards in the future!!
Am I the only one to think like that?!
