Is this a txt scam or is it real?

I just need to know...
I have just received a 2nd txt from these people (the 1st 1 I just deleted) & it says...
Quote:
“ This is the 2nd time we have tried to contact u. U have won the £1450 prize to claim call ....”

Is this a scam?

Sounds a bit fishy to me. Did you enter a competition to win £1450? And how much will the cost per minute be to call the number they've given you? £1? More?

Incidentally, £1450 sounds like a strange prize figure - surely £1500 is slightly more normal...

I had something like that onO2 network last week, My boss said that it is a scam he has had quite a few folk mention similar messages to him, June.

The simple rule I use is that if claiming involves calling an 090 premium rate number, then it's a scam.

I agree Gary, it was one of those, June.

Thanks everyone.............I thought it was strange as I haven't entered a competition.
The phone number that it asks you to call cost £1.50per minute

They often guarantee a win that's worth more than the cost of the expensive call you have to make...

However the prizes you 'win' all nearly always holiday discount vouchers for something that you'd never use or want... along the lines of free flights to New York when you book 5 nights at a hotel ($200 a night hotel)

So I'd avoid it like the plague.

I get quite a few of these type of messages, all with a 09xx number. I got one the other day though that made me laugh, they forgot to include the premium rate number!
