Here's a little reminder of Peri for you.

Sorry I haven't got back to the discussion sooner, busy studying.

I know in the past it hasn't worked but with if Dr Who gets good people to write the scripts it could work.

I also believe by having more companions involved you would have more dynamics available to a story depending on the characters. By rotating different people it will give the writers more to play with.

I like Martha but I do think it would be interesting to have two more people at least. The Companions may not always get on; they may even discuss the Doctor behind his back about what they think he is – similar to what we do on this forum.

The main reason they won't have more than one main companion is money they pay the actors.

Well if the BBC stopped making more Holby series, paying huge amounts for neighbours then who knows.

Personally if the BBC can't afford to make Dr Who and say it is costly then I think they should bring in more partners. I know they have some Canadian money. They could even have one of the companions from another country to entice other countries participation. I love the fact that Dr Who is a British show but if another country/ies involvement is needed to improve the show so that we see more series produced then I think the BBC should do it.

Personally I would love the French to get involved I love some of their actors. I know he is too big a star but imagine having some one like Jean Reno as a guest. He would be a fantastic bad guy!

The Doctor having several companions can work well. The Davidson years were great but sometime I felt Nyssa got sidelined and put in the Tardis on her own quite a lot while the others went out. In the black and white days it worked because the stories were longer and the programme was on for nearly a year, therefore actors wanting to take a holiday would be missing for some episodes (they would be in the Tardis or helping some aliens build a wall or something) and it worked. You could do it now instead of having a Doctor lite episode, just readjust the focus of attention.
