7day cool off/cancellation period with P4U
Hi guys,
to cut a long story short..I was talk into a Phones4u contract last night shortly before the shop closed..and as soon as I left the shop I was feling very uneasy about the whole thing. Effectively I want to go back today and withdraw from it/cancel it. Anybody got any experience how P4u are with this..they have a policy in regards to this apparently but I'm apprehensive that they just want to give me another deal or different terms rather than accept my cancellation ![]() Any help very much appreciated. If I remember correctly they don't do cancellations on T-Mobile or Vodafone, so if the phone is on one of those networks I'm pretty sure you can't take it back. If it's anything else you can just go in and they WILL cancel it for you
![]() If they try and give you another deal just say no, if they try to pressurise you into getting another contract tell them you'll make a complaint to their head office if they don't just cancel the contract like you asked

I sort of chickened out today when I walked into the shop (had to collect the phone as it wasn't in stock last night)..but didn't cancel the whole thing yet as I wanted to go into a different branch...actually just across...but they told me there that I needed to go back to the branch where the whole thing was done originally Will try and be braver tomorrow...aarrgh, I'm such a wuss

Since you connected to Orange, just go back in and cancel the contract under the 14 day return policy. Don't let them bully you into another agreement, stand firm!
I work for Orange mate and I know first hand how bad Phones4u are, they are very aggressive, if you are to buy a phone go to any phone shop but them! |

Thanks a lot guys...I shall try and stand well firm then...will go in before work today.
When I went into the shop yesterday to collect the phone they did have a stand outside with a few phones on it..and a few members of staff standing around looking for people to lure into the shop...aaarrgh! |

You dont need to go back into the store you bought it from.
They just didnt want a 14 day return on their store figures. You are perfectly entitled to return the phone within 14 days, and there is not a thing they can do to stop you. The only exception is on 3 and Tmobile- who have no 14 day policy. If you buy the phone, it is yours for the duration of the contract. 3 will not return a phone that has had a call made or received on it, and Tmobile wont take back a phone. |

Yesterday got a phone bill from orange (I haven't even used the sim card )..round about 45quid... where do I stand now? the contract got cancelled two days after I signed yet I'm sent a bill for a good month...and as I have cancelled all direct debits will it be likely that bailiffs are going to chase me up ??Ju411 |

Don't you always have to pay for the first month? If you don't then it's like you've rented a phone for free for a few days.

I went into P4U the other day for a look and was stunned by the level of bullying their staff use.
I like to think I'm fairly balanced and able to avoid high pressure sales methods, but this was harsh. Never again. |

I have also notice that in the shops I have been in they create barriers e.g. desk near the entrance, displays etc and take you to as far to the back of the shop as they can, as part of the intimidation. Now I know there tactics I would only take a deal if it suits me and my budget. And there are other shops next door. |

ring up Orange and check if your account has been cancelled. If yes they'll tell you that you'll recieve a credit note for your next bill which will take care of all but the 2 days line rental and calls. If it's not cancelled with orange, get back to P4U.
Just phoned Orange..of course the account was still live hence the bill. I'm absolutely outraged at the incompentence of P4U..gues who's getting a big mouth full tomorrow when I hit a branch! What on earth is the point when they give you a 7day cancellation period, you take them up on it but they don't actually implement it. Absolutely fuming now

I remember the shop people saying several times what a shame that I gave it bag as they have to send it back to (god knows) rather than have sold it. Especially since it was unopened! |

I can't help thinking this whole thing could've been avoided if you hadn't picked the phone up the next day and cancelled straight away...... but it's done now.
did you get any kind of reciept when you handed it back? |

did you get any kind of reciept when you handed it back? One lesson I've learned..never to set foot in their stores. Actually I should have never done that in the first place to avoid the hassle. But since they praise they have the 7 day guarantee where one can actually test out the phone (which I didn't!) it makes me wonder what sort of sh*te company they are Cross fingers that I have enough power behind me when I go back into their shop tomorrow!! I hate dealing with slimey, bulltype sales guys

I'm sure you'll be fine....after all, their incompetance/malpractice has resulted in a possible blemish on your credit file - surely information like that will fire you up enough to deal with them.
