The options;

- Panasonic TX-32LXD70 32" LCD
- Sony KDL-32V2500 32" LCD
- Panasonic TH-37PX70PED 37" Plasma (might be too big)

What I intend to plug in;

- Standard multi-region DVD player
- Sky box (not Sky+ or SkyHD subscribed....yet!)
- Multi-region DVD recorder (in future)
- Xbox (currently standard Xbox, may be Xbox360 in future)

So over to you....thoughts/comments/recommendations?

Cheers

Having seen the problems people report with SD pictures on LCD screens we went with a Panny plasma and are very pleased. We got a 50" (which is on the wall) having hummed and hahed that it might be too big and a 42 or 46 might be better, but it's great. (Though it is the 600 which has a silver surround - I think the all black 70 would be less pleasant in off mode.)

The Panny LXD70 isn't all black, the LMD70 (the cheaper version) is.
Most reviews also seem to state that SD picture quality is no longer an issue on the LCXD70, and I've certainly found that to be the case on mine.

I had a similar choice about a month ago and got the Panny for £722 from John Lewis. Its actually only £707 at currys online now, but you don't get the same 5 year warranty as with buying from JL, so up to you.

Recently purchased the Panasonic 32LXD70. Having been put off by the performance of LCD panels when displaying SD broadcasts, I was a little apprehensive. However, at a viewing distance of 7 feet, the picture quality (with the right settings) is easily as good (if not better) than the 32inch Hitachi CRT I had previously. This is the case for both Sky digital and a really old goodmans DVD player. The 100hz technology and motion picture pro work wonders. Don't be drawn to larger cheaper panels. Quality not quantity is definitely the order of the day.
