If the TV OUT is going to the dvd player TV IN then i can see no reason why it wouldnt work....if you have another source (CD player, VCR or something) you can connect to the TV IN of the dvd player to test this then we should be able to narrow it down. Likewise is the anythign else you can connect the TV to to test this?

I feel such a prat...there's a little check box on the tv's controls: "Use external amplifier". I ticked it, and now it's fine. Who put that there?

Just one problem...the DVD player's started to buzz, from inside the unit, so I guess it's going back to base.

I'm not *totally* satisfied with the sound out of the tv into the 5.1, but I guess if you have an analogue feed, it'll never be as good as direct from a DVD. Are there any basic setup sites I could visit to get the best out of it?
