This year's candidates - a bit well...boring?

I'm actually finding this year's candidates a bit boring, compared to the last 2 series'.

I know that last year's people were criticised a lot, especially by Sir Alan. However, I found them much more entertaining and there were some great personalities - Crazy Jo, Syed, Paul, Badger etc. It's just a pity that it wasn't on BBC1 last year.

Most of the people in this series, just don't have as much personality. The only ones that have come across quite strong so far is Tre, Jadine and Katie. It's early days I suppose and it could heat up more in the next few weeks as it has done before.

However, I'm not complaining as it is still the greatest show on TV!

I agree wholeheartedly with the above. There were more personalities last year than this year so far. I have to add that Kristina looks quite strong to me too.

Anyway the greatest show on TV is Lost not The Apprentice!

This series is defo not doing it for me, unlike the previous two. I ended up switching over to the football at times last night.

Anyone know what ratings its been getting?

I've heard rumours they're losing viewers every week.

I agree, I have always been a big fan of the Apprentice but this series is actually quite dull!

Do you think it's because Sir Alan said he tried to choose genuine people, not people who just wanted to be on tele? This has lead to a serious lack of characters.

I really hope it gets better, but at the moment I can't see it happening!

I saw figures last week that the exact opposite was happening.

Agreed, noone really stands out or has done anything really special as of yet.

It wouldnt surprise me if the Beeb decide this is the last series considering that Sir Alan had to have his arm twisted to do it!

Just curious, but what is the difference of it being on BBC 1 or BBC 2? It is still exactly the same show, surely.

I have always found it hard to relate to all the contestants, especially in the earlier weeks, because some of them seem to blend into the background from one week to the next.I still don't have a clue who the hell Loit is or what he does, and I can't even name the posh blokes off the top of my head. But if any of them get to the final five or six, then they will be memorable.

And no doubt someone will be posting a thread this time next year saying that John Doe and plain Jane just don't measure up to the likes of Trey and Jadine......

By the end of the series there will definitely be several characters who will stand out, just like in every other series.

The candidates were very poor last year though - it was all about being a TV star, that's probably why it was more exciting!

I'm struggling to see how this lot are 'best of british' though, really I am

I think that the cast is quite good personally

Jadine and Tre for obvious reasons..
Adam and Katie are causing some drama at the moment, while Kristina is also reasonably entertaining..

Natalie also came good, and was in the forefront for the last two weeks

In fact, Lohit and Paul to me are the only ones who have been truely boring so far..
Even Ghazal and Naomi have had their moments

Yeah they are rather lightweight. I dont think this bunch compare with the likes of James Max and Paul Torrisi, for example, who were genuinely very high achievers before appearing on the show.

Which is why IMHO the first series was the best, the cult of celebrity wasnt as ingrained as it is now.

What really makes me laugh are the likes of Andy on his website declaring he's now available for speaking engagements LOL

Just have a look at this:

Lol at Fat Andy.

Forget about Badger, Jo and Syed for a minute. What about these?
Alexa
Nargis
Karen
Sharon
Mani
Ben

All boring, only Alexa really shone with her blatant stupidity in Week 2 ("Do you know how many cat owners are in the UK?").

Once in a lifetime offer eh?

Maybe he can send me part of his ear?

What a tool.

We were all saying this last year "Series 2 will never be better than Series 1" or "this series is so boring" or even "this bunch really isn't doing anything for me".

Just take a chill pill! I think that this series isn't boring at all, getting lots of media attention and column inches, but I think it is that this year's 16 can't really replace the qualities of last year, therefore "boring".
