I've only just seen the fourth episode of the current series, as I was out on the saturday it was aired, and I found the wonders of tv-links.co.uk to help me.

Firstly, wow. Now, we've been subjected to some pretty awful dalek over the past few years, so this is finally a story that made them look purely evil once again.

Secondly, all hail Helen Raynor. She wrote such a brilliant story line that flowed so well, and has a it felt so convincing that it probably wouldn't feel out of place in the classic who.

This, I believe, is how the dalek stories should be written. None of this new-age, "Oh, we have a plan that's obviously going to fail and send us spinning back into obscurity until next year" crap.

Now, hypothesis on what happens in the second part.

My theory is pretty simple, and will probably be an RTD inspired ending: that Dalek sek is seen as 'impure' by the other daleks, will be exterminated, and the doctor finds yet another way to send them into obscurity until the next time, when they will be dusted off and wheeled out to be used again.

However, going with the rumour that the Nation estate has only given the BBC a three year contract on the Daleks (more to the point, a contract on their name), then the other outcome is that sek is seen as a god by the others, finds some way of escaping and becomes Davros mk.2, vowing to defeat the doctor with his race of human-dalek hybrids.

Only question is, will RTD think about doing this evolution thing to the cybermen as well?

All I know is, I'm looking forward to the next episode!

Interesting endings! The first one is the most expected, but the second one would be nice. Maybe not a 'Davros Mk2' (if you meant that literally, that is - I dunno if you meant a 'Davros-like' character or not!) who will escape to create his own race of human Daleks whilst the other Daleks rebuild their own 'pure' army, only to have a battle at the end of series 4 (Series 5 if we're lucky!)

I'm glad you liked the episode, we and only a few others are the only ones who liked it!

EDIT (Continuation): On this forum

FINALLY!!!! Everyone has been so so critical about this episode, complaining about the accents, the evolution, and the fact that the daleks are once again on our screens. People have been looking at all the bad aspects of the episode they forgot all the good bits! Thank god someone see's it from my point of view. It was great. a good ice breaker as a build up for the next episode. And i can't wait to see what happens!

I loved it, a real gem of a dalek story. I thought the accents were spot on, the quality of acting was top notch, the story had me hooked and it looked fabulous.
Can't wait for next weeks.
Glad to find a positive thread on here too! Cheers all!

I also thought it was very good and voted so on the polls. Not bad considering The Doctor Dances and Satan Pit have been the only two I've voted "excellent".

The three year contract is rubbish, it was a one year contract and they've renegotiated it ever since.

I loved it too. Thought it was suspensful, intriguing and certainly had its share of wow moments. Didn't want to comment in the main thread for fear of being ridiculed, so its nice to see others appreciated the episode too. Seems some people will always moan no matter what.

It is a sad state of affairs isn't it 'Bookergold' that it has got to the stage where fans that actually like the new series don't discuss it and share their enjoyment of it.

I for one have enjoyed every episode of this latest series, I thought Gridlock was one of the best, and Daleks in Manhattan was great, it would have been nice to talk about it with like minded fans without the endless pages of criticisim.

Of course everyone is entitled to their opinions and are alllowed to voice them, but to the extent of turning every 'episode' of Who thread in absurd critical detail just spoils any fun for the fans that might get enjoyment out of the show that want to post here. As I said in another post 70% of people that voted thought DiM was very good to excellent, you wouldnt have guessed that by reading the thread.

I don't even read the main threads anymore as if someone on there doesn't agree with the handful of "mouths" who seem to think they control the place, then they're shot down in flames... and it's angering to read

The only problem I had is that you can't have a Dalek episode without the word "exterminate" in it.

We didn't see them kill one single person! Daleks aren't Daleks without random lasering.

We've only seen half of it.

You have to go about 4 episodes in to see a Dalek kill someone in "Genesis of the Daleks", the best of the Daleks stories.

I thought it was a nice change! They only need to say it if they were going to kill - they had no need to kill and so they didn't say it

No doubt Episode 5 will make it up for you, nej.

I completely agree with you. I myself at times refrain from positive posts because you know your going to get jumped all over - and I think I just cant be bothered to try and defend myself against people who seem to have all day just to have a go.

I think the first 3 episodes were all terrific and like you loved Gridlock. Having said that I did not like the last episode as much but am still hoping for a good conclusion on Saturday.

Yes; tedious, isn't it.

On one side we've got FMs moaning that there's way too much innuendo and gay filth in Doctor Who; on the other side FMs claiming that it's childish and needs more adult themes. From where I'm sitting, moseying on down the middle with 8 million other people, it's doing just fine.

Series 3 has opened with four pretty solid episodes - far better than the first four episodes in series 2 and, overall, better than series 1 too (although by this stage in series 1 we'd had the brilliant Unquiet Dead). The production values have been lifted significantly, and it's good Saturday night entertainment. Nothing more and nothing less (just as it ever was).

How weird, I used to be ripped to shreds for being negative.

Despite the kitchen utensil weapons - sink plunger and whisk - Dalek Sek's voice still frightened me and I'm 32!

And, I seem to remember, quite critical of those of us who enjoy Doctor Who... which is exactly what we're talking about. So no worms turning here after all.

in your opinion.

so because you are on the side of the 8 million that gives you the moral high ground to slag off people who didn't enjoy it.

Well of course it's my opinion; everything that's written on these forums is opinion.

And I really can't see anything in my post that could amount to "slagging off" anyone.

Did you get out of bed the wrong side today, BG?

Aww come on guys. You either liked it or you didn't. That's life. I for one found it boring but someone else will view it differently.
