Katie
Is it just me, or do some people hate her, simply because shes talented?
Because to me shes one of the most talented left.. And seeing as shes got lots of praise before now on the show (think Week 2) People are turning against her, because people who are particularly good at something are often hated. Discuss x

why do you think she's talented?
what has she done to make you think that? personally, she strikes me as one of those that talks the talk but can't walk the walk - she won the doggie task more by luck than judgement. Did you hear her say 'right, we need to focus on Pets at Home because they have the most stores'? no of course not, they winged it and were lucky - since then she has shown absolutely no talent other than for slagging off teammates, saying how good she is at everything but not actually delivering and she looks like Prince Charles which doesn't help

I didn't like Kristina but fair play to her - she was good last night
I only make judgements based on their actions and I feel Katie's poshness gets her respect that she doesn't deserve just my opinion! |

She's hated because she's seen as a backstabber. She is nice to people's faces but then criticises them savagely to camera. Sometimes her comments are amusing (although they still sting), and this week she crossed a line by saying, quite seriously, that if Adam were run over in a parking lot it would make her day.
This week she also seemed largely responsible for losing the task, in that she advocated the soft-sell approach that meant not selling anything. Yet she avoided being taken into the boardroom. She seemed to have Natalie thinking they are best friends while again being highly critical of her in private. Personally I still like her. As you say, she is one of the strongest candidates even if she does make the occasional mistake. I think it is OK to be nice to people face to face, if you have to live and work with them for weeks, even if you don't like them. I also think it is OK - required, even - to give candid assessments in the boardroom and to camera. I reckon she is trying to give good VT and sometimes getting it wrong. |

regardless of her personality, what has she delivered?
all she has done is said 'I'm a global brand consultant so I know about XXX' and then done nothing! |

Like most people, she has her good points and bad...and ofcourse she's got some talent, otherwise she wouldn't be on the programme!
However, for me her bad points outweigh her good...unless ofcourse she's only playing the role of pantomime villain in order to sex up the programme. Obnoxious and deluded are just some of the words I'd use to describe her. Not entirely sure what those talents are either, thinking about it. Speaks good English, I suppose...but in a very annoying, pretentious and patronising manner. Last edited by Sweet FA : 27-04-2007 at 10:36. |

She was good at the pet task but since that she isn't any better than the others in terms of results.

I thinks she's quite talented, especially at presenting, but she doesn't always seem to try - as in Tre's gardening task, for instance, where I think she believed that she and Paul could do sweet FA and, if they lost, Tre would take the rap.
I think she's really keen to win, and sees Adam as her key competition - based on the kind of 'working-class grafters' SAS has picked before. That's why, IMO, she's been quick to play up his 'negative' persona, which he probably has some elements of but which is not as great a weakness as some of the characteristics she could highlight among other competitors. She seems quite smart and reasonably able, though I'm not sure how good she is at having ideas. Her main problem is that she's made her issues with Adam so obvious – all the camera footage must be seen by SAS, Nick and Margaret. If she'd just kept dripping the poison about 'Adam's negativity' into the other competitors' ears, and ensured in this way that he was a boardroom regular (instead of launching into her scary hit-and-run diatribe), she might have picked him off without anyone recognising her as the assassin. Now I think her card is marked. Last edited by The Swampster : 27-04-2007 at 11:12. |

I don't like Katie. Took an instant dislike in the first week (even though she was barely in it) but after the second thought she would go the distance, and started to warm to her.
Since then, she's done nothing. She talks a helluva lot, but hasn't really delivered. She did nothing when Tre was team leader except flirt with Paul, and last week she didn't do that much either. This week she was arguably the weakest link on her team, with Natalie. If she hadn't behaved so sycophantically towards Hoff, insisted so much on the soft cell and pulled her finger out and done some work in the gallery, she might have done something. She's still living on one strong performance and being a large character. Luckily for her there are a few people who haven't had any stand out performances (Ghazel, Paul & Naomi), some people who've performed consistantly well but have no character (Lohit) and some people who are all character but have yet to really deliver (Jadine) that are making her look like a strong contender. However Kristina, Tre, Simon & Adam have been performing pretty consistantly each week (even if Tre & Adam are seen as 'troublemakers' and Simon hasn't been project manager). |

I liked her at first...lovely blue eyes....and she is the most confident in herself but is a terrible back stabber.. I think Natalie was shocked when she saw what Katie said about her on the "You're fired" programme... |

I think its good professional practice to be polite to the people you work with, whether you like them or not. After all you aren't going to like, or be liked by, everybody. Criticising them on camera, particularly saying things like hoping they would be run over, is not something that SAS would approve of. Katie would be more likely to win favour with SAS if she just got on with the tasks required in a competent professional way - as she did on the task she was PM on - than by trying to curry favour and slagging other people off to further her cause. By the way, its not that Lohit hasn't got character, its just that he's not an abrasive or loud personality. He does need to show that he knows what he's doing, and speak out a bit soon, or he'll just be trampled on in the stampede.

I think that one point that told against Natalie was that she wasn't prepared to take her friend Katie into the boardroom and I suspect Sralan saw that as a sign of weakness in not aportioning blame where it was due. Instead she took Lohit..

in ep1 she jumped in and helped Andy out when he was new to the team. In ep2 she was a winning PM. We didn't see much of her in ep4 but she must have been OK because Adam didn't bring her into the boardroom (despite his low opinion of her generally). Quote:

As I understand it, none of the camera footage is. There would be way to much to show it all, and there just isn't time to edit it down for the boardroom. Sometimes I am confident that if he had seen what we see, he'd make different decisions. (Eg I think Jo would have gone sooner last year.)What Sir Alan does get is feedback from Nick and Margaret, and also from the production team. So he was probably told what was in the to-camera pieces even if he didn't see it. |

They'll all be stabbing each other in the back before long.
There's only one winner and they all want to be it. But the trick is not to show it. |

Nah, I liked her before, but she was stitched up by the editing this week. (to be fair she said some really snotty things, which came off badly from someone who didn't manage to sell) But it was such a boring episode they needed to make a villainess out of her to spice it up a bit.
The other contestants seem to have a high opinion of her-- on You're Fired Sophie liked her even though she slagged Sophie off behind her back and there was a newspaper interview with Tre where he said he and Katie were the only two competent ones! I think she probably is very two-faced but in this context that just means she can sell herself-- good salespeople who can't sell themselves seem like a recurrent theme on this show so it's interesting to observe someone who's very good at it. |

Thinks she's better than she actually is. Also, blue eye shadow is not a good look and I think she is snooty and has issues with Adam because of his class. Two faced and back stabbing, also comes to mid. Vile specimen

I don't dislike her because she's talented - I don't think she is talented anyway, although she does have a certain flair for self promotion. I think the reason people dislike her (and certainly the reason I dislike her) is because she's full of herself without good reason, and she's a backstabber. She won't hesitate to trample all over a friend to get what she wants.

I don't know why Katie is in the apprentice, she is so fully of herself there is obviously nothing that anybody else could possible teach her. A control freak that hates anyone elses comments or ideas if they differ from her own. Her idea must be the best, for god sake, how could you think anything else! She also takes the piss, out of car salesmen usually.
