There have been rumours of this amongst BB peeps all over the net these last few days & now, sadly, the Star seems to be confirming them.

Kate Lawler is most likely to be pregnant Davina's stand in for BB4. Davina is already 4 months gone so she will be in the latter stages of her pregnancy during BB4. Channel 4 & Endemol need a stand in should Davina need a rest.

Zoe Ball was Davina's understudy during her first pregnancy. Zoe was not needed last time and PLEASE let's all do whatever we have to do to stop Endemol from inflicting their favourite child, Kate, upon us during BB4's run...........pray, medidate, chant, magic, voodoo, strike, protest, petition, stop the traffic...whatever it takes to keep Lawler off BB4 !!!

Join the campaign here!!!!

Eejay,

Perhaps I can offer you some comfort.

I have a personal theory about the Star, which is that the editor has cancelled all expense accounts. Each 'journalist' is responsible for bringing in their own (different) newspaper and magazines.

They then sit around regurgitating what others have already written and may have now included the net in their trawl. Therefore there is unlikely to be any greater truth in it than the original net rumours. On the contrary, imo if the Star says it, it is almost certainly untrue.

On the other hand, if we're talking about a Friday evening show, Kate doesn't have to be up early on Saturday.

The more I hear about BB4, the more I think I just might have a life this summer.

I think it's great! Lets be realistic, she'll either be drunken and rotten, or mortifyingly dry while sober, and either way hopefully it will put paid to any vestige of belief that she has a credible screen presence.

I suppose Endemol are just trying to economise by paying her for the gig - or perhaps there's another workout tape to hawk.

On the downside, however, Kate might kill Big Brother through her very appearance, so from that point of view I'd rather see Paddy the Dog return from the wilderness for a reprise...

RG....I completely share your views on the Star. However, this article seemed a little 'too full' for my liking!!!

I was looking for a reason to terminate my addiction, looks like I've found it. Goodbye BB. I'm sorry that I will not be around to provide anyone with support and comfort as I'm looking after my own sanity.

Well, it wouldn't put me off watching it

The friday night show is such a minor part of the "experience" that it's neither here nor there to me. If you're watching several hours live coverage a day what's an hour a week ?

Most of that hour is taken up with clips of previous days events, then the eviction, then a meaningless interview about the evictee's tabloid persona which they don't even recognise as themselves, together with some "best bits" which the evictee has no idea are considered of any import and has probably forgotton

I'd be quite happy if they did away with the Friday show altogether and just did the eviction as live coverage. If they must do it, I only watch the eviction bit anyway

I personally don't think any of the BB3 lot are up to replacing Davina on BB4 but I think Brian Dowling could do the job - he has a natural enthusiasm for this kind of job.

Also - because he won a few years ago - he's a bit more 'removed' from BB than any of the BB3 housemates. He's also proven himself to be an engaging presenter despite SMTV's current troubles.

I couldn't agree more, I certainly won't be around for those eviction nights if our Kate is on.

"Big Brother House, this is Davina - please do not swaaaar" followed by Jonny joining her at the end to play us out merrily with the one-legged dance.............ewww, had quite enough of that last year thank you.

I'm chanting! I'm chanting!
but if my chanting doesn't work, it'll be E4 only for me and scouring this forum to see who's been evicted, ( thats if I watch at all, which of course, I'm not planning to )

I'm chanting too..............
I might be chanting all night, not sure I can sleep - this is all very upsetting, what with the ri:se news as well - not that I watch it and certainly won't now but still, most unsettling.
I'll just have to watch BB on E4 later to see who's gone.

i think the daily star is the biggest of all when it comes up with sick jokes! they tried to ruin the secrecy of big brother by telling bubble the footie scores with chelsea and also during the world cup! the daily star is out to ruin big brother all because of......................heat magazine. i think this is all because they never got the main written coverage of bigbrother so why not toy with the fans and make up horrible rumours like kate being the presenter (shudders at thought) in an attempt to make them true!!!! thats the problem the daily star!

i rest my case

Steve Allen on LBC was picking over the bones of this story. He seemed to think there was no truth in it what so ever. He reckoned her agent placed the rumour for some cheap publicity.
Steves words...... "they want a REAL presenter, to stand in for Davina and that aint Kate Lawler ".

Steve is generally very accurate. He is bitchy and implies stuff, but the core of what he say's is fact. If LC hadn't been banned she would back me up on this.

I'll eat my shoes (dont own a hat) if Kate ends up presenting BB.

in BB2, when Davina was last pregnant, she said that if she got a bit tired, she would use a golf buggy to help her continue the show. Only the baby's birth would stop her from hosting.

What do they mean by "stand-in"? Do they mean somebody who would do the whole show if Davina decided she had to pull out or somebody who would just take over every now and then to help Davina out?

I would take it to mean someone who has agreed to step in as and when she is needed, but who may not be needed at all (with any luck).

I know you didn't mean this as a joke but it made me LOL

I've got a picture of Kate on tenterhooks, waiting at the stage door for any sign of Davina going into a swoon & itching to get on stage, like she was doing the Hokey-Cokey

one leg in, one leg out, in, out, in, out, shake it all about

He, he, he, he !!!

Blimey, first she's reaplcing Edith Bowman, now the lovely Davina...when's the Queen next on holiday??

Sounds a little like an agent's feverish imagination to me.
