I imagine Kate will be waiting in the wings, with a syringe of birth inducing medication waiting for her chance to sneakily inject Davina when no oneis looking

There have been rumours of this amongst BB peeps all over the net these last few days & now, sadly, the Star seems to be confirming them.

PLEASE let's all do whatever we have to do to stop Endemol from inflicting their favourite child, Kate, upon us during BB4's run...........pray, medidate, chant, magic, voodoo, strike, protest, petition, stop the traffic...whatever it takes to keep Lawler off BB4 !!!

Join the campaign here!!!!

for a moment I thought this was confirmed fact.......had to make myself a strong coffee before I could bring myself to read the thread.....Eejay my friend you really must stop worrying me with threads like this!

ps. Seriously though, I don't think it would be a good idea to have an ex-HM as presenter (no matter who) -- I just don't think it would 'work', eg. in terms of the 3-way relationship/balance between HMs and presenter and viewers.

You're absolutely right Mystic, an ex-HM would be terribly biased and presenters aren't supposed to get involved.

When is Davina's baby due?
She was quite advanced last time, I recall Jacqui had an obsession with her bump.

....not that it stopped Davina last time round! Grrr

(but thanks FQ )

I believe she is expecting the baby in September.
As far as i'm aware, assuming it's an uncomplicated pregnancy, there'd be no medical reason why she can't work right up to when she's due, so hopefully that should see her comfortably through BB4 without the need for stand-ins.

(btw, I would have thought Dermot O'Leary would be an obvious choice for consideration as lastminute cover if she unexpectedly had to pull out of presenting an eviction night at short notice).

Yes, and then we used to lick t' road clean wi' t' tongue. Tell that to the young people nowadays? They'll not believe you.

My first reaction was that I thought it would be bad news for any former BB contestant to host eviction night, irrespective of whether they are from BB1, 2 or 3.

If Kate were to do it, I believe she would do a lot better than the total failure predicted by many here. My biggest concern would be that, due to her lack of years and corresponding life experiences, she may have difficulty with any necessary 'arm round the shoulder' and similar moments in the interview.

On the other hand, Davina has done some poor eviction interviews imo. Kate, in common with around 50 other people in the UK, has the advantage of actually experiencing the pressures of being in the house. This may give all of them an advantage over others.

On that basis, while accepting CBB is not the same as BB, what about Anne Diamond, or Melinda, or Sue?

As an alternative, what about splitting the job in two? Leave Davina with the sitting-down studio part, and let someone else do the legwork, which would obviously ease any physical problems. However, it may be that mental pressures on the presenter are more significant. I don't know.

Assuming that it would help, it would then have the advantage of grooming a possible successor to Davina. In this scenario a former hm may well be better, because of their experience of the atmosphere of the walk.

I must have missed the eviction nights where they set up an assault course for Davina to negotiate between the house and the studio!

She's up the duff, not at death's door!

If it's of any comfort to anyone, I worked full-time up till 12 days before the birth of my child.

I absolutely accept this and the following posts.

However, I would like to point out that I didn't raise the issue in the first place. I'm merely suggesting a possible solution to (my perception of) the problem as identified by Ch4/Endemol/Davina/whoever by the talk of a reserve.

It may well be a lousy idea. It was just a suggestion, which I still think merits greater consideration than it has been given so far.

RG, my earlier post was not in reply to yours, nor was it directed at BBG (glad to be of service all the same, BBG), but at those FMs who were worried that Davina's pregnancy would necessitate her being replaced by Kate.

Your suggestion about splitting the job is a decent one, if it comes to that. Of the CBB2 FMs you suggested, I would say Anne Diamond is the best option for a replacement. In fact, I would prefer her to Davina. Easier on the eardrums.

A cheetah would be faster! It would lack stamina, though.

* Useless off-topic fact* The fastest fish (it's a marlin or some other sort of sailfish) is faster in water than a cheetah is on land! Bloody hell!

I agree - I don't think it would work either, but I have an ominous feeling that Channel 4 is using RI:SE and BB4 as a platform to promote the career of their favourite little protegy. I really do hope I am wrong.

For a TV channel that used to base its reputation on being adventurous and taking risks, they now seem to have backtracked to the safety of repeating and regurgitaing pale imitations of previously successful presenters. Kate is not original, she copies others and her only ability is to imitate. Channel 4 probably think she will do an adequate Davina impression. If the report is true about being a stand-in, I have an almost fatalistic feeling that they will provide at least one occassion when she will be given the opportunity to cover for Davina. Hopefully if Dermot renews his contract he will kick up a fuss.
