He would also make a great Marius in Les Miserables. If he is a runner-up in the competition (and I very much doubt he will be) I am sure the producers of this show will try to get their hands on him (If you know what I mean!).
I do. And I hope they realise there's a queue

Only if, as in Seamus's case, the panel decide they don't like his attitude. If they want him for Joseph, we'll be shown lots more stuff from his mum and dad saying what a fantastic lad he is.

I would be interested to know who decides what bits stay in and which bits go. Do the panel have a say? is it ALW? who makes the decisions? Being shown in a good light is so important if they had not shown Seamus in a bad way i'm sure he would still be in. I know he supplied the ammunition but did they have to show it? who will they pick on next?

I agree. I think the clips of the singers are very important as is the songchoice that each singer gets given to them.

I'd be shocked if that were true -- John is the reason Ben made it into the final 12, he's been a consistent cheerleader for him -- after giving his strongest performance so far in the sing-off, I can't imagine John wanting ALW to pick Seamus over Ben.

In fact, I think exactly the opposite -- I think both John and Denise tend to think "how would I like to share a stage -- and a backstage -- with this person?" and realized fairly quickly that Seamus's arrogance would be a substantial problem. The way he handled his departure -- "conspiracy" then changing the lyrics -- only shows that they were probably correct.

Someone who agree's with me! I decided I disliked Lee's attitude on Saturday's show when they showed the VT of him saying why he is Joseph, or something to that effect. But was that the editing? Was he just answering questions set to him by the producers? I guess we'll never know.

Of course its editing! the contestants are hardly going to say they are unsuitable for the role are they? When you go for a job interview you don't say the qualities that make you bad for that job are you? and effectively this is what this is an extended job interview

Surely they all think they are Joseph....

Well yes, lol, but I'm sure he was saying "why he was already Joseph. It's hard to explain really, because I can't remember properly (), and I know if I get it wrong, many an angry Lee fan there will be!

I too was suprised about his attitude and i really hope he does not follow Seamus' downfall. I however felt that maybe he said this as reassurance for himself as he is aware of the competition being created between Daniel and Himslef. Does any1 understand where i am going?

lol yes Agree It's all in the way questions are phrased when they're interviewed imo. They are (probably ) told to include the question at the beginning of their answer, such as: "If there was one person you have to beat who is it?"
"The one person I have to beat is......" So, they tie a few of them together and bingo, instant arrogance. You gotta laugh haven't you

VTs are edited in all these shows to meet the aim of the show and its producers. They have been known to even "cut" things the contestants may say and "paste" them out of context.

Having said that, I do detect a slight air of complacency developing with Lee.

What are you going to say if faced with a direct question of "So, tell me, why are you the right person for Joseph?" You can't refuse to answer the question, you're going to have to sell yourself. I'd actually be more worried if any of them talked themselves down. I'd be concerned that they weren't confident enough in themselves and I'd be thinking that they were playing a game of trying to ingratiate themselves to the public.

All

I have just read through all 33 PAGES of this thread and I just want to say thank you to all of you! I have had tears running down my cheeks after laughing so much at the high-speed, full-on, no-holds-barred commentary on the show, nodded at so many of the posts, followed the whole 'WTF' saga with Seamus and cheered the posts that loved Lee (although I also love Daniel). Finally (icing on the cake!) you have mentioned the lovely Nigel Harman in Guys and Dolls. I am lucky enough to live a fifteen minute walk from the Mayflower where G & D opens tonight. On a spur of the moment, I bought two tickets, one for Friday and one for next Wednesday so I am so pleased that at least some of you think I haven't wasted my money!

EDIT - regarding the latest comments on Lee and the VT clip - I suspect that was nothing more than a 'why would you be good at this role?' question. Useful when they wanted to do a 'head to head' with Daniel. They probably asked them all the same question....

The Sun
But after losing out as Joseph, does Antony regret not doing Grease Is The Word instead and becoming a prospective Danny?
“No… I’m not into that side of things,” he said. “I’m classically trained.”

BBC Web
Previous Experience
Before taking part in the comp Antony was studying A Level Drama at college.

Can anyone tell me if A level drama is the same as classically trained.

Before you ask, my point is, i thought Antony was 'off the street' how many others have 'A level Drama' ???

I've come across Anthony as I saw him in a youth musical theatre production last year. I thought his singing was outstanding, and he had the audience spellbound. He definitely doesnt have a pop singers voice, so I dont think the TV audience for this show saw how good a singer he is, except perhaps in his final singoff.

He goes to a local school and is currently studying for his A Levels of which drama is one, that's all I know.

eeek, I'm starting to sound creepy, even to myself
