Hi,
I have had a Philips 32PF5321 LCD TV for 6 months now. The picture quality on SD broadcasts through my Sky + box and an RGB scart lead has always been a bit shadowy on movement (especially with sport) but I thought this normal.
However a friend of mine last night told me that if I use component cables for the video output then the picture quality will be much better.
Is he right?

No, RGB is slightly better than component, and a Sky+ box doesn't have component output anyway.

Generally Europe uses RGB (because of the SCART socket), and the USA uses the slightly inferior Component (because they don't have SCART sockets).

It sounds like the effect you've got is simply the latency of the LCD?.

Component is regarded as the preferred connection to that of RGB scart.

All depends if the artifacts you are seeing on screen are down to the connection or the TV.

As you have mentioned LCD, SD broadcasts and sport, I would have to say what you are seeing is most likely to be down to the TV.

EDIT: Sky+ not Sky+ HD, so no component as Nigel has pointed out. RGB scart will be the best connection on offer.

Oh right.
When you say 'latency of the LCD' what do you mean?
I will be gutted if I've spent £900 on the TV and have been watching a poor picture when I thought it to be the norm for an LCD.
I use a gold scart connector - would a mega expensive scart lead improve the PQ at all?

LCD's are generally poor on moving pictures, and tend to blur on fast movement - more modern ones are better than older ones, and more expensive ones are better than cheap ones.

No, your gold one probably won't have helped either.
