The All Inclusive Maria Chat Thread
I know quite a few people on the forum were fans of the Maria show. and theres been a lot of chat about it in other threads so I thought I'd create one to chat about the show, and the careers of the girls involved.
who was your favourite? have you seen Connie in SOM? have you seen Aoife in SOM? have you seen any of the others perform in other shows? Last edited by Jocko Homo : 29-04-2007 at 00:00. |

Hey, glad to join you here.
My absolute favourite was Aoifie. I thought she was fabulous, even with footloose when ALW said it was awful! Have not see her yet but would love to. Also would love to hear what others thought if they have seen her in Chicago. Also liked Belinda, but mainly because she is so lovely! What is Helena up to now? Anyone know? |

Aoife was not my favourite in the show. In fact I felt she was quite bland near the beginning (I have learnt the error of my ways now!)
I have seen her in both Chicago and Sound of Music and she was amazing! Shes a fantastic actress and is one of the best Roxie's i've seen. As for Maria I felt she does a better job than Connie, who can often be quite wooden and stiff. She is amazingly emotional and has great chemistry with the Captain. If only she'd been chosen from the beginning! |

Seen Connie in TSOM - very good.
As for seeing any of the others perform - I've performed in a lot of shows with Laura if that counts (most recently in Chess in 2005 when she played Florence). First SAW her perform when she was about 10. |

I haven't seen any of them in anything. I really must get round to see Sound of Music though...
Interesting that both Aoife and Abi have done so well, as I couldn't imagine that they would - neither seemed like a consistent enough singer, though they were obviously good in other ways. Who does Abi play in Fame? |

After the events of the last week, I am getting seriously cheesed off with ALW. Apparently he is going to use Funny Girl as a vehicle for the post-sound of music Connie. I am disgusted. This is Abi's part, he said it himself (as an excuse not to cast her as Maria).
I haven't seen TSOM yet, but I would be much more interested in seeing Aoife in the role. In the clips I've seen on youtube, Connie's acting was very am-dram. |

As Abi has far stronger acting skills and he says himself she could sing it and both Aoife and Abi have been playing American roles to acclaim it would seem pretty silly to jump to Connie. Oddly, Tim Rice seems to have employed both Helena and Abi - makes you wonder which of the partnership is right. |

I was always a fan of Aoife, so I'm glad to hear that she is doing a couple of shows a week. Her voice wasn't the best( but then again neither was Connie's), but she really stood out for me during all the acting clips we saw.

Quick question...
What was the name of the girl who dropped out before the finals? Graham Norton read out the letter from her. Anyone know what she is up to now? |

She's a scarily good actress, and I mean scary. She really becomes the character and she's so versitile too! Was there ever 2 more contrasting characters than Roxie and Maria? yet she does both of them remarkably well. And when she has a character to 'become' it makes her vocal performances better too, I like her voice not the strongest but it has a lovely sweet tone to it. |

Yes, it's hardly surprising that her big break came about through David 'the letch' Ian. There is such a funny clip on youtube of her first audition. Graham's commentary on David is just outrageous.

I can't believe I'm going to say this but... I'd much rather see Siobhan as Sandy than any of the 'singers' in Grease is the Word. Considering Siobhan was pretty much my least favourite (not helped by the judges singing her praises every week whilst continually knocking Leanne- who at least had a musical theatre voice and could perform).
Just goes to show you how god-awful Grease Is The Word is. |

Yeah, I'm with you on that one I think!
Her acting skills were seriously lame, but Sandy isn't exactly the most challenging part in all the world. I've only seen GITW once and I can't say anyone bowled me over.
