and if this is right Connie is about to be a touring Nun - though how do they tour when the kids are so important?
http://www.show-and-stay.co.uk/theat...sic-20271.html Chicago is going on tour too according to another report http://www.show-and-stay.co.uk/theat...our-20271.html Wonder who will be Roxie? Aoife's current Chicago contract runs out before that and she's very good at it. Helena (balletic Maria) could dance it and sing it (as belt Maria) - her Roxie could be interesting if she could get it right . Any more flexible enough, dance enabled, Marias or Nancys?? |

When she puts away her boots and whiskers Helena will then be in
Sondheim's Saturday Night at the Jermyn Street Theatre http://www.saturdaynightmusical.com/about.html I suppose its her singing on the two excerpts they have .......she's becoming American Maria. All we need now is a leading role for Abi ........... |

Aoife's report from the Von Trapp home for BBC Breakfast was on this morning (22nd) A very little singing and some whistling and a bit of the story plus Aoife turning up live later. It looks a bit cut because evidentally the story changed after they sent her out there with more opposition to turning the house into a hotel stopping the idea.
Presumably its on BBC iplayer for the next 7 days if anyone wants to see it and missed it....... |

Aoife has been extended in Chicago till 22/3 according to her website - having a day off on Valentine's day........otherwise 8 shows a week
http://www.aoife-mulholland.com/inde...ain_in_chicago Meanwhile Abi was reportedly a glorious monarch http://www.oxfordtimes.co.uk/leisure...ord_Playhouse/ and Helena was a purrfect puss http://www.buryfreepress.co.uk/news/...ect.4783710.jp Nice to see the girls getting some good reviews and in Aoife's case extended again. Touring Chicago has Honey from Eastenders and Jimmy Osmond so no Marias or Nancies - I would go and see the real thing at the Cambridge...... |

Helena has had some good reviews for Saturday Night. Only the Guardian among the papers has reviewed it so far and Mr Billington found she was likeable - which is something in itself - but some of the music/theatre critics on the specialist sites are very keen on her singing and acting. The musicalcriticism one is really good as reviews go and has nice piccies too.
http://www.musicalcriticism.com/oper...ght-0209.shtml http://www.musicomh.com/theatre/lon_...night_0209.htm thought "Helena Blackman is also strong as the lady who wins Gene’s heart, putting expression into every note she sings" and http://westend.broadwayworld.com/art...treet_20090217 thought Helena gave a "subtly balanced and vocally beautiful portrayal of Helen " , There's also an incredibly long pod cast from the show rehearsals (90 minutes) with an interview with Helena and some singing either side of it 38 minutes in if you have the technology to get there quicker. http://www.musicaltalk.co.uk/episodes_0121.html |

Aoife has been extended again as Roxie in Chicago to 8/4/09 http://www.aoife-mulholland.com/inde...ded_once_more/
If she gets to June she gets Mr Springer as her husband. Helena's Saturday Night has transferred to the Arts Theatre for an additional run from March 25 to April 11 th. http://www.saturdaynightmusical.com http://www.saturdaynightmusical.com/about.html Helena has got even more good reviews http://www.timeout.com/london/theatr...day-night.html Even the whingers like her. http://westendwhingers.wordpress.com...street-theatre And there's some interesting Helena interviews including http://www.whatsonstage.com/blogs/offwestend/?p=893 and The Stage has done a podcast where Helena is on for about 8 minutes from about 90 seconds in http://blogs.thestage.co.uk/mt/mt-se...IncludeBlogs=5 |

Aoife has been extended - again - in Chicago until July 12. Looks like she has been given some days off for good behaviour - dates on her site - that means she does get Jerry Springer to pull her strings. Well done Aoife.
http://www.aoife-mulholland.com/inde...em/and_again1/ Meanwhile I missed Abi who was part of and presumably did a show in Birmingham on March 27 http://www.thsh.co.uk/view/thomas-sp...-believe--live I think she did some similar ones last year so there may be more??? |

Helen has made BBC radio 3 with an interview about Saturday Night and singing songs from it alone and with her male lead . Spotted by "bluelark" on another site. Still up on iplayer for a couple of days. Helen is on from 20 minutes in until she sings a final song ending the segment at 35 minutes in
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode...aturday_Night/ There's a little snippet at the end that points out that Saturday Night goes to the Theatre Royal Windsor next . Don't know if its going anywhere else. http://www.theatreroyalwindsor.co.uk/event.php?id=169 Interesting walking around the Westend at the moment - from the girls on the ALW shows Aoife, Helena, Leanne, Jessie and Jodie are all playing major leads in different shows within 10 minutes walk of Leicester Square - with Sarah as Jodie's understudy on top. |

Just stopping by to say how pleased I am that so many of the Marias (and Nancys) are carving a career for themselves in the industry they want

In case anyone missed it poor Connie has major problems with her throat
http://www.conniefisher.co.uk/ Aoife has a changed cast around her in Chicago with a different Velma, Amos, Mama Morton and Mary Sunshine and Jerry still to come in June. Westendlive 2009 (20th/2ist June) now have Chicago listed which means Aoife might make 3 years of performing there http://www.westendlive.co.uk/shows. She's not performing on the main show 20th June though so perhaps not. A couple of advertising blurbs on the net suggest that the Justin Lee Collins series that includes him playing Amos in Chicago alongside Aoife might be starting on may 3 Sky 1 2000. There are 6 shows and 3 challenges which may suggest Chicago will get 2. Very TBC until the TV schedule confirms it. According to several (unconfirmed) posts on whatsonstage Leanne isn't staying on as Cosette in Les Mis past the June 2009 cast change date if anyone wants to see her. She's very good. |

Abi (assuming a previous rumour was right and that The Stage can't spell her name and it is her ) is leading in the Unsinkable Molly Brown from May 27 till June 20 at the Landor Theatre
http://www.thestage.co.uk/listings/p...le-molly-brown http://www.landortheatre.co.uk/ (under programme) |

The Justin Lee Collins series featuring Chicago seems to be starting on May 12 now - 2100 Sky 1. No idea if its starting with Chicago or the wrestling or ballroom dancing tasks - Chicago was his favourite according to Sky Magazine. .
