Help with lighting when taking photos

Help! I am a photographic novice and am trying to take photos of some wedding invitations (for my website). Try as I might, I can't seem to make the pictures light enough.

My camera is a Fuji 5600. I've tried using the flash, I've also tried two lamps with 100w bulbs in shone on my subject but the photos always come out too dark.

If anyone has any idea on how I can create a 'professional' looking photo rather than a downright rubbish one then I'd be really grateful!

Check your shutter speed, if it's set too fast not enough light can get through the apeture.
