I think I must have been watching a different show because I don't know where this perception that Lee is that good an actor has come from. Aside from a reasonable voice, he is pretty lifeless in stage movement and facial expression. There are a couple of others who have acted him off the planet from the first week.

And who might they be, perchance?! Lee is by far and away the best musical theatre actor (different from 'ordinary' acting) which is all about telling a story through song and selling it to the audience, which Lee excels at, tons better than the others. It really came out this week, and the song showed his voice off too.

Daniel also has a great voice, but he has the wrong looks for Joseph - too mature and sophisticated. The other good voices belong to Rob and Keith, but they are not Josephs (or actors!) - they should be in bands, Rob in a rock band perhaps, and Keith in a boy band (I reckon he would be huge).

Daniel has a good voice but i'm not sure he would make a good Joseph, he is a bit too mature!
Lee is a good package, he has the looks, he can sing really well, did you see his very first audition? Anyway he really acts the song and he is beleivable and i'm just waiting to see how he performs a more upbeat song as the last 2 have been pretty samey, samey!

Who was it who said about Lee's fans trying to pass the "arrogant" mantel to Daniel now that Seamus is out?

It seems that they are trying to pass the "too mature" label onto him as well.

Embarrassing, it really is.

Another vote for Daniel here - I think Lee will win it for some reason - maybe because Daniel doesn't look quite 'right' for Joseph - but Daniel is the best by far. There's something about him that I find so appealing but I am wondering if he would be better suited as Phantom or something a bit 'meatier (teehee pardon the pun). He's not boyish enough for Joseph. And I actually think he's too good for it. I am not a big fan of the musical - there are some good songs but it's not strong really - and I think he would be wasted in Jospeh when there are more versatile roles out there (Les Mis for example). However, I am thoroughly enjoying it and it has far more talented people on it than that silliness on t'other channel.

And that's the crux of it - he's a square peg in a round hole. Lee is far better suited to Joseph, Daniel would be much better in 'Les Mis' as you say - I can also see him in something like 'Me & My Girl', he could easily tackle that, he has that kind of old-fashioned air that many more heavyweight musicals require ('Joseph' is very lightweight, let's be fair). He would also have been great in the Will Young film part in 'Mrs Henderson Presents' imho - much better than WY himself!

I don't think that people should be passing the arrogant mantel to anyone. I wasn't a fan of some of the insults hurled at Seamus either. I do, however, think that Daniel's smile can be perceived as smarmy and that we've not seen another facet of his acting. That's different to accusing someone of arrogance. I don't think any of these guys are too mature either. Daniel's the oldest now? He's 27. Hardly a dinosaur. I'm drawn to the boyish charm of Lee - personal choice based on what I'm attracted to in a performer.

wow yes that definitely rivals Daniel for the top spot then. And his voice is still developing! Theres something very John Barrowman about his voice and the way he performs, maybe that other thread is right and they really are related

The irony as I see it is that with his curly hair, dark colouring, bone structure, thin nose and thin lips, the two years younger Lee actually looks older than the more baby-faced Daniel.

Have you tried Specsavers?! Daniel looks much more mature imho! (And why should "curly hair, dark colouring, bone structure, thin nose and thin lips" make someone look older?! ) Am I missing something, are we talking about the same show?!

I don't think it is how old they look which is what makes one more Joseph-like over the other.

As I have just said in the Lee thread, there is just something about Daniel that doesn't work for me as Joseph. Don't get me wrong - I think he is excellent, I just think he would suit other roles better. Whereas Lee to me epitomises how Joseph should be looks wise, and I also love his singing and the way he acts the song (yes, I think he acts beautifully) - I can't explain it any better than that .

Perhaps this would be the place to ask about Keith and his supposedly bad diction. I can't say I noticed anything wrong with it - but of course the panel commented on it. So could those who are able to hear the problem explain to me what the problem is and perhaps where its apparent and i'll listen to his songs again!

basically sometimes it sounds like he's mumbling the words. if you can't understand what he's singing then his diction is bad. simple as.

Have to say I find it far easier to understand him singing than when he speaks

yea i know what bad diction means, but I did understand what he was singing. (or so i thought!)

Lmao!!! Good point, I just really didn't think about it like that lol, I just know in my mind that Joseph = Lee

(And luckily for me Lee is the most local to us, my sister lives near Southend ).

sorry I meant to say he tends to mumble at the beginning of phrases. Listen to Who Am I at the beginning and it sounds quite muddy. His diction gets better in the chorus though.

I do think that Daniel has the best voice and could become a star in the same way as Russell Watson has though I do think that Lee is much more the musical theatre star with the combination of his voice, looks and acting skill

Agreed. When it comes down to it, Lee has the vulnerability and charisma for 'Joseph', which I don't think Daniel has. I see him more in Chicago or Guys n Dolls.
