My favourite by a long way is Lee. However I have to say why bother with an asian Joseph or an older Joseph only to remove them on the grounds of .." well i have to think who I can see playing Joseph blah blah"- don't put them in in the first place then.

They aren't looking for anyone other than a pretty boy to play the part. I mean not a single chest hair amongst them for good ness sake.

I went to see Bill Kenwright's production of Joseph yesterday. It was really very good indeed. But Joseph was 18 with highlighted hair and very pretty. I mean they don't even bother with the wig piece now.

I also have a good friend who went along toe Joseph auditions. he is an incredibly handsome man- and I am a hetrosexual bloke saying that. he is tall and handsome with a great voice and has studied at drama school the past 4 years with great distinction. he was told he was too masculine to play Joseph. he didn;t have the right look. He isn't a body builder but he is handsome and chiselled and not pretty.

I just wish this show was based more on the talent than the looks. Ironically looks played very little part in Maria when in fact she did need to have a certain look. Whereas Joseph could be any look or colour and it seems to form the basis of the show more than the talent

yes i agree. it's also interesting all the discussions about how ALW just couldn't have given the part of Joseph to someone like Seamus cause he looks too old. Well they really shouldn't have put him through then and had a maximum age requirement

Strictly speaking, Joseph should look middle Eastern / north African.

I have seen productions of Joseph and each time the Joseph has looked totally different but had a great voice. These have been professional shows not any amateur shows
