I'd say it's the one time of year that people who never bet would do a one off bet. That's great that your mum would win something everytime

Chalmed - enjoy your trip up to Northampton wearing your COMFY shoes
Just know you'll both have a great time and do tell us all about it at your earliest convenience .

Only 5 days to go !

Was going to multiquote all the 'have a good time' wishes but it would have been a page long! So thank you everyone - I'm sure we will

Just learnt that Joseph is coming to my local theatre at the end of March 2009 but
I won't get excited until I know who will still be in the cast

Been seriously quiet on here today!

Bright and sunny as Lucy and I set off for Northampton. Easy journey and there was a car park right beside the theatre, which was brilliant as I tend to get lost between the two otherwise! It's very disconcerting coming out of a theatre and not knowing where on earth the car is.....

I tried to swap our seats but it was completely chocablock so we had to stay in our box - which actually wasn't as bad as I thought, but I'd choose front row (ish) every time

Saw Helenrockabillygirl (I think that's how you spell it) - recognised her from her pictures, so went to say hello. It was nice to meet another person from the threads.

Show was fab. I just don't know how they make it look like they really love doing it after all this time. Very subtle changes, slightly different performance from Craig in the Potipher scene, which was very funny.... and he was on his own on the stairs (well with just one guard) when Tara does Pharoah's story - which I've not seen happen before. Full set (I love the Anubis dog heads!) and the golden chariot was back Fantastic singing from Craig as usual, Dean was completely manic doing One More Angel (what is that man on!!!!) and Ant was in fine form. In fact his high notes were really impressive today (obviously the tight lycra suit is having an effect Lol).

Raced out the back to the stage door and so did Helen. Simon came out but was looking Too Cool for School in his shades and I didn't have the courage to go and say hello Couldn't really tell he'd had his haircut so don't panic Sarah!!!

Tara came out in a beanie and a jumper! She must have been boiling hot... and was heading for the gym opposite saying something about needing to keep the weight off She's tiny so if that's how she feels there's no hope for the rest of us

Ant and Craig came out together but by the time I'd sorted out Lucy having her photo with Craig, Ant had to go so I didn't get to talk to him. Craig chatted in between signing stuff for other people and was a sweetie as usual - he looked like he was off to the gym but he said they were going to play poker first! Methinks he may have a slight addiction.......either that or poker is funding his beanie collection..

So here are a couple of pictures - and just a warning for those of a nervous disposition.... Craig is wearing a vest.....

Thought I'd repost this that I posted over on Tanith's Joseph site. Might be of interest to some people here.

OK, where do I start. To quote another musical "Let's start at the very beginning, as that's a very good place to start!"

I've worked it out that this was my 15th time of seeing Joseph, and as usual went with my mum - I'm a 19 year old Uni student by the way, and also took a friend of my mum's who had heard of Joseph and saw bits of ADWD but never seen the show.

Once we got seated in the theatre the first thing I noticed was that there wasn't an orchestra pit like there usually is or any sign of musical instruments anywhere else in the theatre. My immediate thought was "I hope they're not using a backing track or something". I have vague memories that the Andrew Derbyshire tour only used a organ or something like that. (That being my worst version of Joseph I've seen).
I was wrong however as looking round towards the mixing desk I saw there was a mini TV facing the stage where there was bloke by a keyboard which was also used for conducting the choir as well.

The seating was brilliant as we were right by the gangway with just a rail in front of us so had a brilliant view.

As for the show itself, I would say it was one of the best versions of Joseph I have seen to date. My favourites still being Philip Schofield (first version I saw) and the Richard Swerrun tour.
I don't know if it was my imagination but this version seemed a whole lot fresher and livelier and 'newer' than before. The energy was amazing.

Couple of critiques though, I picked up on a couple of lyric changes in songs, I assume these are changes that Bill Kenwright has made. One that I can remember was in Joseph's Coat, I can't remember what the changed lyrics were now but it was this line that was changed...
"So Jacob bought his son a coat
A multi-coloured coat to wear"

Also, I was completely unexpecting Pharaoh's new song, I just thought that was in the West End version. Although I like the song, it makes the show a little disjointed I feel, but maybe that's just because I'm not used to it, and the first time I had heard it fully.

Another point was I still miss Joseph slamming the cup down before Benjamin Calypso, and I thought Craig wasn't quite as angry around this point as he should have been.

The chariot was much better than before too, rather than just a silver or red motorbike, it looked more like a chariot this time. Also, all the new little jokes, and sequences included to extend the running time are good too. Just a shame that Derngate being a theatre like it is, has never been able to do the rising up over the audience as the finale.

Overall though a brilliant show, 10/10, and would love to see it again before it finishes this week here but it's unlikely I will.
Hopefully it won't be too long before it comes round again!

Any questions, just ask

Forgot to say - had a nice time at the races this evening Didn't do well at the start, but the horse I backed in the last race came in 3rd and as I put it as a place, I won Only ended up 60 cent out by the end of the races

So sorry to hear about your Nan, Zarah.

But wonderful to hear about the showtune! I hear that every morning if I'm working, but I'm off this week, so I missed it. Hope you managed to enjoy it, and your birthday, despite the sad news.

It's about time Radio 2 backed Craig a bit! Let's hope they will continue.

Does anyone know anything about the single? I have not been keeping up as much as I would like!
