Hurray! Discovered last week that 'Joseph' is coming back to Dublin in February for two weeks. Booked 5 tickets for the front row the thursday of the second week, then discovered to my horror that Craig was actually only playing the first week, then going on two weeks holiday... all's well though, as I was able to change the tickets for Tuesday of the first week (had to move back a row though) and it cost me an extra 10 Euro to change the tickets. My daughters haven't realised the show is coming to Dublin yet, I'm hoping they don't find out until they find the tickets in their Christmas stockings.
Don't know how to break this but while in Leicester I learnt Craig isn't doing Dublin at all, sorry Gaffer

It is on CCF too, Craig confirmed he will not be doing Dublin, or Liverpool, the first day at Dundee & possibly not Dundee at all.

Oh Heck, I forgot about that.. he did tell us in Leicester too

Lucky so and so is going to be on a far flung beach, wearing some trunks that all the Craigettes have already seen! (not with him in them I hasten to add!)

Well, to say I am annoyed now is an understatement.
When I booked the tickets, Craig's website specifically said Craig would not be playing Joseph from 9 to 22 February. I see the site has now been ammended, affirming he will not play Dublin at all. I have spent over 150 euro plus another bloody 10 euro to change the date of the tickets (ending up with worse tickets in the process) based on false information published on Craig's official website. Whoever is responsible, it is shabby in the extreme. The only good thing is, the kids don't know yet, so at least they haven't been waiting in expectation of seeing Craig.

I'm sure the offical webmaster would have posted the news as soon as it was official. If she had posted it without confirmation and then it turned out NOT to be true, she would have had complaints too....

I have to say that when Craig spoke to us in Leicester even he wasn't absolutely sure which dates he would be doing..

All I can say is that Alastair is brilliant apparently so you can be guaranteed of a good show anyway

I think you are being a little unfair to the webmaster , Bill Kenwrights Joseph on tour site has always said 'cast to be confirmed' for both Dublin and Liverpool, as Craig (until the 9th December) was not continuing at all after the end of January. He only confirmed he would not be doing either venues on the 11th december.
This was updated on CCF and the official site at that time.

As brilliant as Alistair is - I don't think he's doing it - rumours are there's a special guest covering for him while he's away

I've no wish to fight with you Patty, but I don't think I'm being unfair. On Sunday 6th December, according to Craig's official site, Craig was confirmed playing Joseph until August 2009. The same night I noticed that Joseph was playing Dublin in February; nothing about 'cast to be decided'. My wife went and got tickets on Monday 7th December. By Wednesday 10th December CCF had posted a notice that Craig would not be playing Joseph from 9th to 22nd February. I don't think it's illogical to deduce from this that he WOULD be playing Joseph the previous week, 2nd to 8th February. Thus I went and changed tickets, costing me extra money for not-as-good seats. Perhaps it would have been wiser to cross-check with Bill Kenwright's site before booking; but we all know that speed is of the essence if you want to get good seats. If the webmaster was a bit hasty in posting info before it was confirmed, well that is still his/her responsibility, and as far as I'm concerned, they deserve a bit of flak for it.

I can understand that you're a bit miffed, but these things happen, we've all booked tickets to see a show to see someone, and then someone else play that role - it happened only last week when I went to see the Jersey Boys - and had I actually got tickets for Hamlet I'd be crying right now. It is extremely difficult since the Joseph programme to get tickets for tour and time is very much of the essence, but you can't blame the webmaster - Craig was still pictured on the Gaiety Website - I looked, as I was trying to determine the identity of the mystery guest - I have my theories - anyway I digress - Didn't the box office say anything - because some of the respinsiblity should lie with them - and i've never heard of being charged to swap dates.....

All of the Company works extremely hard, so I don't think you'll be disappointed, even if Craig isn't playing the main man.

I'm sure the main site would have been updated as when the information filtered through.

Look! In the larger scheme of things it's not a huge deal, and I'm sure the webmaster, whoever they are, never acted with anything but the best of intentions. I also had certainly no intention of denigrating the rest of the company- I have seen them before on their last trip to Dublin in October 07, and I'm sure they will put in a perfectly fine performance. But the kids have been wishing to see Craig again since that performance, and I thought this would be our chance. And with all respect, it's not QUITE the same as someone dropping out through illness.
As for the box-office, the person at the ticket office had very little english and could'nt, or would'nt, confirm who would be playing Joseph, so I was back to relying on the website. As for being charged to swap dates- do they only do that in Ireland then? I did think it a bit much, especially as the tickets I was giving back were better than the ones I got. Buying tickets here, what with booking fees, posting charges etc. reminds me of that song from les Miserables

'Charge 'em for the lice, extra for the mice,
two% for looking at the mirror twice,
Here a little slice, there a little cut,
3% for sleeping with the window shut
When it comes to fixing prices
There are lots of tricks he knows
How it all increases
All in bits and pieces
Jesus it's amazing how it grows!'

But that's how they do it in Dublin...
So Alistair the 13th Joseph is not playing the part? Now that I'm calming down, the bit about the special guest is intrigueing me...so Sarah, do share your theory...

Most theatres over here in England won't change tickets at all once you have paid for them, not even if you pay an admin fee. If you want to change dates you have to buy whole new tickets.

Hi All

Is that correct that Craig never does the early matinee on a Saturday?

I am going 3rd Jan at 2pm in Glasgow while OH goes to the Celtic match. I have seen Craig twice already but just kind of assumed it would be him

I am not too fussed I suppose as I am 3 rows from the front and just love all the songs

'fraid so macca, he doesn't do the early matinee on Saturday, ( 3 shows in one day would be hard) or the matinee on Wednesdays.Enjoy the show anyway.

Happy New Year all.

I haven't been around since May so I have a lot of catching up to do!

Debating whether I can afford a weekend to Dublin but don't think so as I'm going to Liverpool the first weekend in Feb. ah well.

Hi Everyone

To my relief it was Craig yesterday as Joseph in the 2pm show at Clyde Auditorium

I was 2nd front row (there is no Row A) in the middle behind the orchestra pit. I could read their music I was so close

Wasn't too keen on Tara Bethan from I'd Do Anything as The Narrator. Nobody could beat Keith Jack for me.

Still enjoyed the show and came out to find Dundee Utd stole a point at Parkhead. Gutted I wasn't there now

Met some people going to the 8pm show and upset them when I said it was not going to be Keith Jack

I've just been to see the show in Bristol and met up with Charmed, BB, Alphak, rockerbilly Helen and my mum came too.

I must say that I thought the show absolutely excellent. (Again and as usual)

My Mum enjoyed it very much and was like an old pro on her way round to the Stage Door. I was very proud of her!
I actually had the courage to introduce her to Craig. He was charming, as always and I was so proud of him too for the way he stayed and talked to us all even though he wanted to get off to the gym! Looked very fit to me already. But good on him.

I'm really glad I can come on here and post something as I've been absent for a long time.
So happy. Cloud nine.........
Best wishes to everyone
Love
JJ
