Samsung D900 or Sony K800i
Hello,
I have a Samsung D500 at the moment, and it is beginning to keep loosing signal so I want a new phone. Should I go for the Sony K800i (cybershot phone) or the Samsung D900 (slim slide phone)? The reason why I might not go for the K800i is the joystick navigation (already own a K750i), and I might not go for the Samsung D900 because of my D500 and some of the Samsungs feel a bit plasticky. Which one should I go for? I am going to probably have one of them. Thanks, Stephen. |

I'd go for the K800i, basically because you can customize the phone with themes, and choose your own message tone. With the Samsung you have to choose on of the existing tones and have about 3 colour schemes to choose from. Plus it has a radio and flight mode.
Mind you, I do like slider phones, I have a Nokia slider myself

K800I is far superior. The camera is excellent, best I've seen on any phone, Battery life is astounding, I can play MP3's 8 hours a day and the phone will last 4 days, If left on stand by it'll last 7 days or more easily. Signal is also excellent. I had a E900 and it would only get 1 -2 bars max, the K800i has 4 bars full time at home

Another vote for the K800i, Excellent phone and so far no problems with the joystick & I have had it since they were released.

OH and I both got K800's on Sunday, seem to be great so far. I had narrowed it down to either that or D900, I am really pleased with my choice. The K800 has so many more features, try doing a comparison on one of the network's websites.

Thanks for all your replies.
I would go for the Nokia 6280 but I have heard such bad things about it and read really bad reviews about it. The Samsungs to me look a bit plasticy, the Sony's look a bit more solid built. The Samsung D600 looks nice, but I would like a up to date phone. I know this sounds daft, but does the Sony Ericsson get supplied with earphones? What is the contents if purchased on pay as you go? Thanks for all your help everyone so far. |

The Nokia music phones also have good quality. I've got a Nokia 5300 but the battery runs out after about 3 hours of music, that's kinda bad, but the quality of sound is amazing, much better than my Sony Ericsson K750i.

The K750i isn't that good in my opinion for sound, the camera is OK but crap at night (even with the light next to the camera on).
Glad it comes with earphones. ![]() To me the Sony's are the best phones (Above £100) available for Pay as you go at the moment. |

I think I will go for the K800i.
Samsungs in my opinion are plasticky. Sony are bringing out some really nice phones. I liked Motorola (in 2004) when they released the Motorola V525 (really good phone at the time), but the new Motorola's don't appeal to me, if they done one with all the features in a K800i and done it slightly thiner than the Motorola V525 I would have it.Sony seems a better brand to me, I have never had a problem with Sony. ![]() Are Sony Ericsson two companies in one (like Sony and another company merged) or is Sony Ericsson entirley by Sony because Sony Ericcson has a seperate website? |

Sony Ericsson is a joint venture between...you guessed it Sony and Ericsson. Both companies stopped making their own branded phones, the idea was to merge the expertise of Sony's consumer electronics division with that of Ericsson's technological leadership (according to wiki). If it wasn't for this venture you wouldn't be seeing the Walkman Phones that are available right now.

Oh my gosh I can't even believe there is a contest. I personally hate Samsung phones, horrible interface and tendancy to break easily. K800i is a BRILLIANT phone everything you could want, I'd highly recommend it.

Thanks for your help. I have gone for the K800i, good graphics, good camera. I haven't explored all the features yet though.

they're not the best phones around i know but anything that can fall into a bucket of bleachy water 3 times & a paddling pool (careless mother), get dried out & still work perfectly (bar the camera after the trip into the bath last month) certainly has my respect that said, the sony phones are really starting to sway me, not a fan of "regular" style phones at all though, slide, or flip (at a stretch) for me |
