Need info on Samsung SM940MW
I'm thinking about getting the Samsung SM940MW to use with my Xbox 360 and also watch TV with.
Does anyone have any information on it? I'm a bit confused about resolutions and screen sizes - anything to do with LCD's, really! I've heard that the resolution's 16:10. Is this as good as 16:9? My last TV was a 17" LCD but I want something a bit bigger. The TV's for my bedroom and it's only about 12ft by 12ft, so I don't want a massive screen. |

It's more suitable as a monitor, rather than a TV.
It's not technically HD Ready, it's an SM model, meaning 'SyncMaster', meaning monitor. 3 year warranty included with it being a monitor, but personally i wouldn't want it as a TV. |

Would it be best to get a proper TV to play my Xbox on?
I must admit, I wouldn't be using the monitor for my PC - only Xbox. Can you recommend a good 19/20" LCD up to £250? |

Goodmans LD1928W is a nice 19" HD Ready set.

I have the Samsung SM940MW and really like it. We use it mainly as a 2nd TV, fed by the RF2 output from the SKY+ box. I have, on occassion, attached my PC, PS2 and DVD Player to it and I personally don't really notice the difference between the 16:10 rather than 16:9.
Picture via RF2 isn't brilliant (but then again, its RF) but via scart (RGB and Composite), VGA and DVI (HDCP compatible) it's really very good. |
