Are The Pigeon Detectives popular yet?

If not, why not? I've listened to their debut album and let me tell you, I think we're going to be hearing quite alot from these dudes. If you thought The Fratellis were good, wait until you hear The Pigeons. They have a clever knack of writing songs so instantly catchy that you'll swear you've heard them before somewhere. Surely it's only a matter of time before radio 1 are all over this band....and I suspect Jo Whiley is already on the case as I speak.

They even have the ubiquitous 'Lust For Life' guitar riff in one of the songs....how on Earth can they fail? > http://www.myspace.com/thepigeondetectives

They are excellent, but why are you wishing them all this success, delgado? You know you'll hate them the first time they appear on Richard & Judy.

Heard them for the first time on Kerrang radio this morning and loved the song.

It really wouldn't surprise me if they become humongous.....I'm talking Kaiser Chiefs or Arctic Monkeys levels of world domination .

Well, it's a prediction, recommendation and warning all in one .

They have the songs to become popular and people who like bands like The Fratellis really should check them out. Other people who aren't fans of this brand of 'indie' rock should probably avoid them like the plague .

It should be clear what I think (well, I thought it would be!).

I do love the pigeon detectives... but they dont give The Fratellis a run for their money at all. Pigeon detectives are good in their own way, but theyll never see the success of The Fratellis!

lol, have you been reading this thread? . I love how you keep bringing up the Canadian thing because of one post I made about 6 months ago. Not that I care.....my view hasn't changed; at the mo, Canadian indie rock bands >>> British indie rock bands . Also, did you know that my favourite band is one of the biggest in the World, even bigger than the AMs and certainly not Canadian .

I'm only having a laugh, delgado. You are one of the few posters on here I deem it worth having a laugh with, tbh. A compliment of sorts.

I agree. I am a massive fan of the pigeon detectives, I have listened to loads of their stuff and I don't see them as a band that will be commercially successful.

Really?....I think they have a very commercial sound. Plus, I just watched the video for their new single and the singer dances like the tw*t from Kaiser Chiefs and has a silly haircut like the tw*t from The Kooks. I'm telling you, all the signs are there .....although they probably still need a d*ck in a suit at radio 1 to decide they're cool enough and that their sound appeals to the right demographic to be on the playlist. Not that I'm cynical or anything.....

Zane Lowe and Colin Murray have both played it a few times if that counts.

But they don't wear suits (note: I left the 'd*ck' bit open to interpretation).

I think he meant the management at the BBC by that comment.

Yep, like the bloke who's the 'Head of Music' (or some title like that) who, for some unknown reason, is/was really pushing The Twang.

Apologies.

BTW, Reverend and the Makers are the next big thing in music. That's a factoid.
