turning off G-protection on a walkman

hi

I recently bought a cheap walkman (Sony D-EJ020). It has G-protection (anti-skip) so you can play it while jogging etc. I want to turn this off to improve sound quality but there is no on/off button and I dont understand the instructions in the manual ,which says:

To select G-off press <play button> while you keep pressing <next track button> during stop.

I translate this as:

1. press the stop button
2. hold down the <play button> while pressing <next track button> repeatedly (but how many times??)
3. play normally

Ive tried doing this but the sound is still bad and there is nothing on the LED to tell me whether G-protection is on or off. All I know is that my favourite CDs are sounding horrible!

G-Protection shouldn't make any difference to sound quality?

People in the Portable Devices forum might be able to help you.

I'd have read that as

Press Stop

Press and hold Next Track

Press Play and release

Release Next Track

And done...

Ah, ain't Engrish wonderful?
