Do you not underatand? He has had the "delightful" Katie telling him for the last few weeks who wonderful and intelligent he was and he really believed it. What surprised me was that SAS thought he would have gone further.

As for being the most stupid he did take up with the evil Kate and that was a big part of his down fall. So that is him and her friend Natalie gone because of her.

Although I would say Rory would give him a good run for his money in the stupidity stakes.

I do think that she identified a solution though.She managed to get those sausages cooked by talking her way into a kitchen in France (and she was absolutely clear about not being confident in french.)

Completely agree. Paul wasn't quite as incompetent as Rory but then who is Tre and Adam get better and better.

Yes I think they thought Adam would make the ideal sacrifice since he has already been in the boardroom twice - think AS saw through that one though ...

I think Sir Alan likes the fact Adam has some balls and will stand up to anyone who is trying to shoot him down. Adam is always the first with the shrewd business questions (see the art task for example), and although he's very rough around the edges I think he has a lot of potential.

The apprentice is not about finding the finished article, but someone to mold into an excellent business mind.

This is the first series I've watched and what have I been missing! It's great.

Paul was so impressed with his own baked bean tin idea that he lost all perspective and as for selling them cash and carry cheddar! What would people suggest taking? Pork pies? Samosas or other ethnic food?

Paul was arrogant beyond belief and he and Katie clearly believe that being a different class gives them automatic superiority. But the revolution has already happened!

Liked Katie describing him as the most intelligent in the house. So intelligent, in fact, that he took pork sausages into an Halal butchers. Doh!!

Trying to sell cash and carry cheddar cheese in France is one of the dumbest ideas I've seen so far on the show. .......I almost expected him to grab a crate of Blue Nun for them to wash it down with.

The thing that struck me was the way he was described as a former army lieutenant.

2nd Lieutenant is the lowest officer rank and is the rank people who join on a commission receive. Those who get promoted from the ranks jump over the 2nd and 1st Lieutenant ranks to reach Captain.

It's pretty clear he did his officer training course, got his commission and left pretty quickly. Any half decent officer gets promoted from that rank pretty fast. I'd say he's got about as much army experience as Ross Kemp.

It's a tough call between Rory and Paul for the title of dumbest, Paul thought selling cheap cheese to the French was a good idea, Rory thought people wanted to walk their dogs looking like Rambo - tough, tough call

exactly my sentiments. I almost thought SAF was going to fire adam which would have been a real mistake. I guess he has learned from his time in charge of spurs. presentation only goes so far before it must give way to substance. Paul was deficient to the point of needing a transplant.
lohit is my favourite, closely followed by adam and simon.

Agreed but I'd throw Natalie in there too for good measure...for likening an artist's work to her highlights (and actually saying it to his face when she was meant to be schmoozing him!) and for being taken in by Katie hook, line and sinker!

AND he was in Human Resources, lol!! (As someone else said in another thread, they must have been crapping themselves in Basra when they saw him coming with his appraisal forms - I laughed SO much at that, the image was hilarious!!! )

LoL! Another thing i found quite funny was when Katie was saying something like 'Paul is one of the most brilliant, intelligent people in the country', then it cut to a shot of him trying to drink out of a cup of water and dribbling it over himself, i found that childishly amusing

TWERP is the only word that does Paul any justice.

I couldn't stand his slimy ways and that massive ego he has - it was great to see him taken down a peg.

He blamed everyone for his cock-eyed boy scout 'bean cooker' for not working, except the moron who invented it - himself. Those great slabs of cheapo cheese were the silliest idea ever. It's like taking coals to Newcastle, as Sir Alan himself said. And the Mastermind came up with trying to sell pork sausages to an Algerian Muslim, in a shop selling halal food. Priceless.

I wonder just what he did in the 'army' (office job?), surely he couldn't seriously have led men in any conflict, he has the charisma and leading abilities of a plank of balsa wood. I can quite honestly see him in the part of 'Darling' in Blackadder Goes Forth, slimying, toadying and wimping himself round Stephen Fry as General Melchett.

And his toff 'girlfriend' Kate blamed someone else instead of the real culprit, just because they fancy each other. Pathetic.

I was so glad to see him skulk away. Next time I hope it's her.

I quite agree. She is hugely proactive and clearly a creative thinking. She may not be the best "team player" in the world simply because she does not suffer fools gladly and is probably continually surrounded by those she regards as fools, who compared to her probably are. If she can tone that down she will be fine. Hopefully she will get her chance before she builds up too much resentment amongst the troops.

The army is full of Paul's type - I had to put up with them at functions when my husband was in the forces. They give you a wet handshake and use words like ticketyboo. I couldn't wait to get away from their shallow conversations.
