Paul really tried to avoid giving anything away about his relationship with Katie. I wonder if they are waiting until the end of the programme to do a Hello/OK spread?

His decision to bring Kristina back to the boardroom was ridiculous. If it wasn't for her they wanted have any cooked sausages for customers to sample and therefore she was largely responsible for the sale of the sausages. She had nothing to do with the buying of the cheese (in fact she thought it was a bad idea) or anything to do with the advertising banner, so what possible justification could he have for bringing her back? OK so she confronted him about his poor management but that had no bearing whatsoever on the team's poor results.
He signed his own fate by bringing her in. The right decision would have been to bring Katie in, and Sir Alan could obviously see that it was for personal reasons that he didn't. |

By the time the vast majority of candidates get on You're Fired they usually have the humility to hold their hands up and laugh at themselves a bit. It often brings out a more human side to them you don't get in the atmospehere of the Apprentice... Paul had none of that, he just was utterly arrogant and dislikable.
I remember meeting public school educated people for the first time when I went to University and in some ways I was quite envious of this confidence and utter self-belief they have drilled into them and carry around for life. However in some cases you could see this confidence was so mis-placed it was just a very sad and quite incurable case of self-delusion. Sadly, Paul is one of them. Oh, and does anyone else think the candidates have divided into camps along rather unsavoury class lines? Last edited by savageskulls : 03-05-2007 at 13:01. |

Complete and utter, snob, back-stabber and waste of space. In fact, he is Katie's perfect partner. |

I didn't see anything unusual in what Paul said, from the point of view of what people normally do in workplaces. He was justifying himself and people do that all the time in business, no matter how awful they are or what they have done.

He was just crazy - still trying to justify the unjustifyable! On "Your fired" wasn't it only his parents that thought he should have stayed????
The reason they lost the task was: 1. wrong product - especially the cash and carry cheese - Pauls idea 2. Not having any samples to attract customers because of the tin can cooking thing not working - Pauls idea. There was also his poor leadership and inability to think outside the box and take the initiative when things started to go wrong - instead it was Kristina and Adam who sold stuff on the stall while Paul and Kati tried to flog pork sausages to a halal restaurant during ramadam!!!!!!: - Why decide to have both the Fench speakers (Paul and Katie) off together leaving the non-French speakers to actually sell the stuff on the stall - which was the objective of the task! - If he believed Adam/Kristina were the weak and undermining members of the team - why leave them working together? - who had the idea of cooking the sausages at a restaurant - not Paul - teeling fibs about the selling price - what the hell was all this "need to know" stuff about? - Paul showed that he was not a team player and really regarded the other members as "lower ranks" and not worthy of his "officer" time - compare with the quiet skill that Lohit used to keep the factions in his team working together. However I think what really did for Paul was his arrogance - by refusing to accept that the team's loss was in any way his fault I think he lost Siralan's trust. He should have put his hands up and admitted that he made mistakes - by refusing to do this he came accross as a sulky schoolboy "It weren't me miss!" He also lied about selling at cost - even Katie refused to back him! He also fell into the same trap as Natalie of trying to protect Katie whereas I get the feeling that Siralan is not too impressed with her performance at the moment. Although I thought at first that Paul was going to be a contender but in the end he showed poor judgement but couldn't admit his own mistakes |

He said he knew a bit about France, well if he did he would have known that they never ever would eat great soapy slabs of cooking cheddar. What an eejit, as Kristina called him in the Board Room.

Did anyone else notice there were no friends or family in the studio & no one talking *lovingly* about him on video either...? All the other fired candidates have had loved ones either in the studio or on tape....hmm, makes you wonder

When Paul announced he was going to use chaffing gel to cook the sausages with I knew immidiately it wouldnt work, chaffing gel will keep hot things hot but that is all. Also the whole cheese fiasco beggared belief.
What a cow that Katie is. I think Lohit and Kristine will be strong contenders. They should have tried selling, hagis that may have worked, the french already have black pudding |

I just watched this for the first time (I got a friend to record it for me). The first thing I enjoyed was the cheer that went up when Adam's name was mentioned, lol! (At least the public like him even if the other contestants don't.) Nick made his feelings quite plain too, I thought. But Paul - what a thick skin, talking across Nick like that - how rude! As others have said, he'll never admit he's wrong - but I do wonder, who on earth will employ him now?!
The worst thing about this programme was the easy ride that Tre got - Adrian Chiles obviously believes it's hilarious to have some mysogynistic, xenophobic, foul-mouthed idiot spouting away, and encouraging the audience to laugh is sending us straight back to the bigoted attitudes of the '70s (I discuss this in more detail in the 'Slay Tre!!' thread). What's even more awful is that if Tre had been in that programme tonight, he probably would have called the chef Novelli a "f*cking frog" to his face, and not cared a damn about it. I find that kind of personality detestable, and it unnerves me because I just don't know what to do when I'm faced with a person like that, it's actually very frightening because you know that anything you say or do is just like water off a duck's back to them. I dread to think what Tre might be capable of. (The other horrible thing in that show was seeing Paul's pasty white body suddenly appearing from round a door in that film - eek!! It quite put me off my supper!!)
