As the title of this thread suggests, the theme last night was Billboard hits. When I found this out I thought “Great, thousands of wonderful songs to choose from. Nobody can go wrong!” Why are these kids so bad at song selection? Grrr. Oh, Lionel Richie was the guest judge and Simon dissed him! I thought a physical fight was about to break out. Either it was staged or Simon has some balls! Damn.

My thoughts on the performances:

Clay – You’re really starting to bore me! Do a fast song, please. For the love of God no more ballads.

Kimberly Locke – “My Heart Will Go On” I really like this song, but Kim is no Celine Dion. She’s a yeller. I really didn’t like this! (She looked gorgeous, though.)

Rickey – I just do not like him. Period. Props for singing Lionel’s song in front of him, though.

Kim C – “Everything I Do (I Do It for You)” Dreadful, as Simon would put it. Why did she have to ruin such a beautiful song? WHY?!?

Josh – Okay, after this performance I feel okay liking him. He sang “Amazed” by Lonestar. I would say he sings this better than Lonestar! Perfect song choice (finally!) Five votes from me.

Carmen – “Call Me” by Blondie. I actually thought she did well (not crazy about the song choice). Guess the judges heard differently. My only complaint is that there wasn’t enough energy. I threw in ten votes for you guys! I have a feeling she will be gone tonight, sadly.

Trenyce – “Power of Love” Wow, I thought she was fantastic. Is Simon on crack? Honestly. What is wrong with him? He said that Trenyce and Carmen deserved to be in the bottom two last week (that’s not what you said last week, sir) and that they deserve to again. Ugh. 20 votes.

Ruben – I don’t remember what he sang, but he wasn’t wearing a 205 jersey. I was in complete shock. He did say he was going to bring them back, though. That sucks because I like the new look. Oh, and his performance was the usual. I feel stupid for not getting what is sooooo great about Ruben. Anybody care to inform me?

Okay, my bottom three predictions are Carmen, Kim C, and Rickey. I hope Rickey goes. The show is on in ten minutes so I will update with the results soon.

I'm surprised that the show was only a half hour tonight .... BECAUSE Kelly performed! Oh my God her hair was horrible. The song is okay, I think it's a song Christina Aguilera turned down. I feel bad for Kelly. They showed a clip of the movie again. Horrible is putting it nicely.

I was actually sort of close with my predictions. Replace Carmen with Kim Locke in the bottom three. I guess those ten votes helped! RICKEY is gone. Finally. Next up, KIM C!

Yes, it was the two Kims and Rickey in the bottom. Kim Locke was sent back first.

Cant say I'm sorry Rickeeee has gone, but I've always liked Kim L.- was she really bad.
I've only just got back off my hols so I'll catch up with the video of Corey's downfall before I watch the show tomorrow.
Jess, I agree with you about Ruben, but I do hope Clay raises his game- and I also hope Carmen stays, or Ben'll be whinging for ever more!!
Kim C is very dispensible-never have liked her, so I hope she goes this week.

So she must have impressed the public, although I thought she was ace last week, and was bottom 2?

Frankly, she hasn't the best voice remaining, Reuben has, and clearly won't win(Reuben, Clay or the US marine hero seem destined for that), but as I've said before I'd rather listen to a cd by her or Kim Caldwell and I'm sure a lot of the cd buying public would too.

After reading all the latest posts, I have to say that I am disgusted by Simon.

Firstly he totally dissed Carmen, when she was given a second try.

Next, he decided she was worth another chance, and made her his pick!

Since then, the other judges haven't been really keen, but Simon thought she was the most commercial female , if I remember right, and did really well last week.

Then she was bottom two and the votes for both weeks were to be added together, and suddenly according to this thread, Simon suddenly decided that the bottom two last week deserved it!

Certainly not what he said last week, when he praised Carmen, and said that someone should definitely have gone(Josh in most opinions)

But then he has obviously seen that the US wanted rid of Carmen and Trenyce last week and the votes would count, so assumed one of those would be going and commented to be right!

Not a very nice person. I could put it much stronger!

I reckon Simon might sign Carmen if she goes much further..... and to think she wasn't even in the final 32 to start off with!

Not as bad a show as the last 2 weeks , but how the heck Kim C is stil in there I dont know. I thought she was awful. Completely off key and her timing was lousy. If you can get round the blonde bombshell looks Ben, I'm sure you'll agree
I also thought Josh was terrible. Is America tone deaf, or is it just me?
Trenyce just gets better and better and I was really impressed with her performance.
Still the two knockouts for me are Clay and Ruben. They're in a different league.
On a plus note, how nice not to see Paula slobbering over Corey- bet she feels a right prat now. And Lionel certainly gets around doesn't he? (For US viewers, he's appeared on Reality shows in the UK and France and Spain recently)
Carmen sounds OK too, and I dont reckon she deserves to go before others like Josh. Sorry, but I reckon he's protected by the patriotism vote. It's not the quality of his singing thats for sure.I'd like Clay, Ruben and Trenyce to be the last 3, but after the shock of Tamyra's booting off last year, I wont take this as a fait accompli!

i thought josh was great,especially as though its my favourite song,i think acer ben doesnt like josh for the fact he is a marine,(remember lonestars version of amazed here was the pop version) i didnt like his performance last week but was a lot better this week,kimberly c was awful as usual,i thought ricky should have just about stayed until next week,still think clay and reuben are great,josh will make a great country singer.

It's a good job musical tastes are subjective isn't it? I played it back last night and Josh sounded even worse the second time round. I completely agree with Ben ( although his judgement does get a tad blurred when a leggy blond appears ). How the hell Josh ever mae into the final line up I'll never know. He hasn't once impressed me.
I do agree with you about KimC. She's as bad as Josh.

But I genuinely like Carmen's voice..... she's not always technically good (she was rubbish last night), but at least she's a bit different

As someone said, of all the 1000's of songs to choose from, ranging from the Beatles to Madonna what did they choose? 2 Celine Dions & a Bryan Adams amongst other crap. Kudo's to Carmen for trying something different, Josh - I just don't get totally one dimensional Garth Brooks sound - a - like his pitiful performance in the Disco edition showed his limitations, Clay is really beginning to bore me with Broadway stylee, Rickey with his badly judged "lets sing yet another song by the star guest" misfired on him & probably cost him his place, Ruben is the best of a bad bunch.

I actually agreed totally with the viewer vote this week, although we don't know how many of the votes were from last week for each.

Carmen was all right, probably missed a few notes here and there, but this is what the "experts" don't get, the general public mostly are voting on what they thought was a song they liked and singing they liked, not whether every expert note was hit or not. And even these so called experts totally disagree on even the technical bit most of the time!

Kim Locke probably actually sang better than Carmen, but the problem was she took a really difficult song by one of the all time great voices and although she did alright, it sounded poor in comparison with the original.

Kim C picked totally the wrong song and was poor anyway.

Rickey might have been hitting good technical stuff at times, but to me anyway and obviously to the public too, it just sounded awful! He deserved to go.

Now we commence on what is in my opinion going to be two separate competitions. The next four weeks will see the girls go in whatever order and then the real fight begins.

If they didn't get rid of Josh the previous week when he was appalling, I can't see him not making top 3.

I would expect all top 7 to make some sort of career out of it, even if not as chart topping singers.

I'm not sure that's the entire reason. If it is that's pretty lame. It's like the people that vote for contestants because they are from where they live. That would make me a Kim C supporter!

I can't believe they didn't show Kelly's performance. I wonder why they did that.

its either they think because Kelly isn't well know here or we have to get lots of time for The Club.
