Why did they blank Kristina?

When she walked back into the house? I know Katie hates her guts but I thought she was friendly with the rest. I know we saw Katie bitching about Kristina and Adam and poisoning their characters, but surely they are supposed to be intelligent, aware people and would have come to their own conclusions about Kristina after 6 weeks. I have never seen two people get such a cold reception.

I think that there is possibly a lot of resentment towards Kristina because so far she's been very effective and strong, yet doesn't need to seek comfort by conforming to a group and is happy to be her own person and confidently do her own thing.

To a weaker person she may be seen as a major threat.

And due to this I wouldn't be surprised if she'd possibly also be a victim to end up getting bitched about behind her back.
A group of weaker individuals may group together and gather a false sense of security and strength in numbers.

Also I'd think that some of the group hate Adam (in a game playing sense) because although they've tried to get him out, he has been proven to be right where others had been wrong. People tend to hate that. If they see Adam as inferior to them, be it due to class or having a different personality to them, then the added fact that he's shown some good business decisions would probably infuriate them into blatant resentment, and make them want to try even harder to get him out so that they don't look foolish due to a 'working class oik' proving to be better than some of them.

It's possibly a sign of weakness when people gang up on individuals and make up all sorts of excuses why they are better than them.

Both Kristina and Adam have made accurate decisions, yet some of the others appear to resent that and tried to pin all sorts of nonsense on them by undermining their good common sense by either accusing them of being confrontational or difficult. When the truth is that they probably made perfectly valid business decisions and some of them feel humilated because they were right and they themselves were wrong.
A fragile ego will possibly resent them both and try to undermine them by bitching about them if they have shown more ability than they themselves.

That's why I think that Kristina was equally shunned when she returned to the house along with Adam.

While they were in the boardroom I suspect that Katie and co. took the opportunity to run them down to the others behind their back.

I noticed that when they returned many posters were commenting on Adam not getting a warm welcome. All the focus was on Adam.........but not many posters commented on the group also shunning Kristina too.
Now that was more of a surprise to me.

It's now getting pretty interesting to see the group dynamics at work now.
Very surprised to see Kristina starting to be sidelined.

Maybe it's also partly due to who she chooses to get on with. Somebody posted that both Kristina and Adam made a pact not to reveal anything about Paul and katie's relationship to the others...so right there it looks like Adam and Kristina get on quite well and are possibly closer as friends than people may have realised. Maybe it's because Kristina gets on okay with Adam and that some of the others in the house resent her for it.

Who knows what the edit holds back, but I really wouldn't be surprised if Katie has thrown some mud at Kristina by projecting her own character faults onto her. I think that Katie definitely sees Kristina as a real threat and is possibly weaker than Kristina if she feels the need to seek the comfort of a group who will listen to her bitch about her.

Kristina appears confident and independant and is probably the only contestant I've ever known who relishes the prospect of being brought into the boardroom as a challenge she fancies taking on.
(I remember Paul Torrisi from series one also enjoyed it for a while, until he had one or two close shaves and suddenly it wasn't as much fun at all anymore and the reality of getting fired got too close to comfort)

Last week I would never have thought that Kristina and Adam would be my favourite contestants at this time this week. So I'm quite surprised that I appear to have found myself seeing them as my two favourites right now.

Kristina is a threat to them, they know that. She's ruthless but she is good.

I think they were wrong to blank both of those returning from the boardroom, the reason people are more focused on Adam is because their dislike of him, and behaviour towards him, have been far worse over the weeks that the series has been running for.

But yes, I agree that the treatment of Kristina on her return to the house was low also....

I think that some contestants are exhausted with the process now. As the numbers are getting lower and the final is getting nearer they are under a lot of pressure spending all that time with each other, living in such close proximity and fighting for one position.

I think this week in particular they were pushed to the limit not only with the nature of the task but also travelling to France and communicating in another language. I think that this week's programme showed lots of cracks in both teams - Naomi and Jadine getting upset with Simon, Tre fed up with the two girls, Adam and Kristina being shunned by Paul and Katie, and Ghazal - well whats there to like?!?

I think by the time the contestants got home they were just fed up and lacking in any enthusiasm that it didn't matter who came back they all would have got the same reception.

No, I meant the focus from the forum.
What I was saying is that most people on the forum commented on Adam getting ignored,..yet it went virtually unnoticed at the time that Kristina also was ignored.

so did I...

I'm not sure that Kristina's cool recpetion went un-noticed as such, but in the context of the series as a whole, we have seen them pretty much bullying Adam week on week, whereas Kristina's does not seem to have had the cumulative treatment. Therefore it is natural that the focus of the forum would be on Adams reception....

remember as well this programme is very edited...so that may not have been a true reflection of their reaction.

I would assume that Katie would be spreading venom about Kristina to turn others against her - so that could account for some of the frostiness.

Oh...did you?

It's just that the way that you worded it I assumed you were talking about the people in the house, because it's the people in the house that dislike him. You said that the focus was on him rather than Kristina because people didn't like him. On the forum (as opposed to the house) people tend to like Adam in general.

Looks like we got some crossed wires there.
It's okay though, I understand your reply now.

D'you know, I hardly noticed it myself!! I think I was waiting so much to see what happened to Adam, I kind of brushed K aside somehow (I'll have to watch the recording again). The good thing is though that they are both behaving as if they couldn't give a damn about it (even if they do inside) - they are being much cooler than the others. Good on them!

And also, I think the others were expecting to see Paul and Kristina come back (Katie certainly was anyway), so the sight of her wasn't so much of a surprise to anyone and the blanking was probably prepared! (I think I heard someone mutter "oh" in a kind of shruggy way).

I confess, neither did I. I too was purely focused on the reaction to Adam so it completely passed me by that for them to be silent they were also shunning Kristina.

I noticed it. Maybe it was the way it was edited.

Noone said a word when she walked in. Its a bit strange- you would think someone would have said something. Then Adam walked in and I think the temperature in the room dropped a few degrees!

For the last few weeks though the greetings to the people returning from the boardroom have been more low key than the first few weeks.

Which in a way is actually better than the wholly insincere smiles and hugging (yuk!) by people who moments before had been saying they hoped that person wouldn't make it back. I found that just nauseating. Where did this habit on TV of hugging people you hate or are merely a fellow candidate with, come from anyway? You hug your close friends and loved ones, don't you? I don't hug people at work, do you?

I'm not sure it was particularly anything against Kristina!

Katie has the entire group except Adam and Krisitina eating ou tof her hand, They all love her and were thinking of how upset she would be, the group dynamic was all gathered round Katie when the others arrived, and I'm sure some people maybe Jadine and Naomi had put their arms round her!

I also think that no matter how much of a muppet Paul has been edited, it is obvious to me that apart from Kristina, he was evry well liked by everyone, including Sir Alan, and Nick, so I genuinely think it was shock rather than outright hostility!

i agree.......it's down to mass editing.....although i dont think they were exactly "over-the-moon" about her coming back

*couh* KATIE *cough*

I know, I thought it was weird the first few weeks when they were throwing themselves at the people returning from the boardroom!

I think SAS said he was disappointed, Paul looked good on paper, but there is always the question of why he left the army so quickly, a Sandhurst training is not cheap, he must have been "let go". Editing could not hide the fact he ignored opinions from his team and was duplicitious with Adam and the budget for the sign. The tin can to cook sausages was just the comedy angle to emphasise his foolishness, or eedjitness, a much better word for his type of idiocy.

I am sad to see Kristina and Katie work together next week, I hope Katie messes up a task asap, to get fired.

You may be exactly right about the reality of the situation that you have painted.

I would imagine that in reality, this is what it is.

But TV?

Of course they will make up their own storyline out of the hottest temperatures and shortcomings there.

Ohhh me too! I am totally dreading it! I like Kristina but have got a feeling that despite Katie saying horrible things about Kristina this week she will try and reel her in to get rid of Adam. If Kristina lets Katie do this she will regret it.

ARGH.

The reason they were cool to Kristina is that whilst the others had taken a ferry to/from France, Kristina took the eurostar with Nick and Margaret, giving her privileged access to them both and thus an unfair advantage.
