S-Video connection
So this one will be a bit out of the ordinary at least (!). I am in Hong Kong, and am connecting up a Now Broadband TV decoder via S-Video, to a 26" Hitachi LCD TV. The picture is good overall, but there is some faint crosshatch patterning over the picture.
The Now engineer came tonight and said it must be some interference or incompatibility with the TV. Any ideas? |

Try a different s-video cable or a totally different connection so you can compare and try different digital processing options on the TV and see if one of them is creating this effect.
S-video is pretty good but RGB or Component is superior and a digital link even more desirable. |

Is the S-video lead connected directly to an S-video socket or are you putting it through a SCART adaptor?

Assuming that the TV and set top box are both for the same broadcast system (haven't a clue what system is used in Hong Kong) then I'd be inclined to suggest that the cable you are using isn't individually screened, which is allowing some cross-talk between the cores. Try getting a slightly better cable, and see if you can't get one which has individually screened cores (as opposed to the cable being screened as a whole).
