hi all! im new to this forum so please be gentle with me!lol! also, if ive put this thread in the wrong place im sorry - still finding my way about!!

ive been a bit slow on the uptake, but i recently got round to buying a dvd recorder to connect to my telly. ive now got a lot of discs which i would like to edit using my laptop to remove adverts etc but im stumped!

i have adobe premier 6.5 software which i was going to use to edit the programmes, but it cant read .BUP .IFO and .DAT files. ive ripped them and also changed them to MPG files but i still cant do anything with them!!

does anyone have any suggestions??

I don't know anything about Adobe Premier 6.5 but you need to read the .VOB files into a suitable Video Editor (I use Video Studio 10) and edit them. The program will convert the .VOBs to an editable format (MPG2) when you read them in.

Extensive editing of MPG2 files can cause problems such as audio sync, but if you are only cutting bits out that should be OK.

When you have finished editing you re-author your DVD with your own menus etc and burn it. The program will create all the necessary new .IFOs and .BUPs.

This process is not without it's problems and frustrations particulary if your PC is not up to much. As I said perhaps your Adobe will do this but I really don't know.

Good Luck
