Toshiba 37" screen setup ?
advid
06-05-2007
...I've just calibrated my new Toshiba 37" (C3030 series) using Video Essentials DVD and I'm now on 100% backlight / 100% contrast / 70 brightness / 30 colour - (other settings OFF or 0)....

Although the picture looks pretty good (good blacks with shadow detail and whites are not over-exposed - I'm surprised that the settings on Backlight and Contrast have to be set at maximum on a brand new set....!

Surely this can only get worse as the set gets older and I'll have nothing to play with as far as adjusments go ?

Is this a fault to have settings at max or is it 'normal' ??

(NOTE: - this is under daylight viewing conditions - at night I adjust Backlight down to about 50% or perhaps even a wee bit less - Contrast still requires 100%)

I was going to point you towards AVF but a quick check on C3030 threads and I see you are already there

As for the setting well 100% contrast is nuts as is 100% backlight but environment plays a part and diy calibration using DVR (just bought the HD version myself) may not be gospel when compared to real world viewing of multipule sources (not just HDMI/Component DVD).
