Samsung LCD-style CRT - any good?

Are the new Samsung LCD-style CRT's any good?

http://www.samsung.com/uk/products/t...?page=Features

I've always liked the picture quality of CRT's but hated the fact that they're really bulky and weigh a ton.

Been looking at this 32" HD-Ready Samsung slimfit CRT for £335 inc VAT.

1/3 thinner than a standard CRT.

Hardly new, they have been around for a couple of years and well haven't really done the business. The first gen had all the geometry and convergence issues you would expect from a "cheap" CRT magnified by the short neck technology but I've read the second gen were a little better.

It's still a CRT and a few inches off the tube doesn't make much difference in weight (52kilos) and you are not getting a 4" LCD depth

Get a demo if you intend to use it for HD sources because you don't want wonky lines which are supposed to be straight when viewing HD, SD is bad enough

I was thinking about getting one for my bedroom but at 50+kg, I think it might be too heavy!

They do weigh a lot!

They're not a great TV, they're still quite deep and the picture quality isn't great.

With 32" HD Ready LCD's available for little over £300 now, why bother?
