If I thought it was personal

you would be out the door, says Sugar to Paul. Well it always ends up being personal between the chosen leader and at least one of the contestants. That is why the 2 people who should be brought back slip by week after week.

I cannot see what Ghazal, Jadine or Naomi have contributed to the tasks for the past 3 weeks.
I believe Sugars two assistants Nick and Margaret should choose the 2 to go in the boardroom with the leader. They are with the contestants during the 9 hours or so of the task, while we only get to see an edited hour.

I believe we would get a fairer outcome and weed out the no hopers from the start.

The thing is, the editing is done very cleverly. For all we know, Jadine, Naomi and Ghazal could have contributed quite a lot but the producers felt like making it the Paul/Katie/Kristina/Adam show for that week.

In "Comic Relief Does The Apprentice", Sir Alan decided who got called back to the boardroom from the team that lost.

I happened to like Naomi. You can learn some of what she did by reading her website: http://www.naomilay.com/ She claims she did a lot but was cut out of the edit. The programme likes to show failures more than successes, so generally if someone isn't featured they are probably doing quite well.

Interesting idea. However, I think part of the point of the PM picking is to see how well they can assess their colleagues. For example, the fact that Paul picked Kristina is one of the mis-judgements which got him fired.

Also, the right to pick is one of the few rewards for being PM. I think if you took it away, candidates would be even more reluctant to take on the role.

Well, the no hopers help make good TV, and it can be interesting to see how the better candidates deal with them. For example, one of the things I like about Naomi is that she was firm but fair with Jadine's whingeing when she was PM. Where-as other people don't like her because they don't think she succeeded in getting Jadine to shut up. Whoever wins The Apprentice ought to be good at handling awkward staff.

Um nope. I blogged it and Alistair Campbell chose Piers (grudge match) and Danny (so Piers would definitely go).

I'm assuming you mean that whichever one of Nick and Margaret was following the losing team should pick the other 2??

Well, I happen to not like Naomi and one of the reasons why, is the patronising way she dealt with Jadine's "whingeing" as you call it. Saying "yes, I know Jadine, you've told us 30,000 times" isn't exactly firm, or fair. And how can you read Naomi's website and believe all she says about her contribution and disregard the major contribution that she says that Jadine made to the task? (As you do on the "Jadine over-rated" thread. Ha! One of the things that I really like about this series, more than the first two, is how people are using it to degrade some archetypes and elevate others.

In the flower selling task in series one (was that the very first show??) the cameras followed Paul Torisi as he wheedled and charmed his way through seemingly sale after sale. The impression at the end was that he was a sales demon.

It was only afterwards that Series 1 Tall Posh Bloke was revealed as the top seller on the day, but no doubt as his style was not flashy, and as by the time the show was being edited they knew he was soon to fall, his contribution on screen was reduced in favour of someone they knew was a series long star performer.

She said more than that. She repeated Jadine's position back to her to check she'd got it right. She had. Jadine was left saying, "Well, I think it's important." It was clear that Naomi had already heard what she'd said and that Jadine's saying it again wasn't contributing.

I'm not sure what you mean. I can only see one post by me in that thread, #3. I say I don't think she's being kept in just for entertainment and I note she's been on the winning team 3 times recently. None of that is denying her positive contributions; quite the reverse, even if I don't go out of my way to defend her by quoting Naomi's website. My problem with Jadine is that her positive contributions are offset by her negative ones.

Brangdon, I apologise. I read your "every bit as bad" comment to mean that she was not contributing. But I know see you mean her temperment, which is certainly suspect. No hard feelings eh? Generally, I love your work. Kiss kiss
