nytramfilms

Thats per episode. It is shown 5 times on ch4 & e4 and has 260 episodes a year. It costs £16,000,000 so it was easy to work out, very cheap.

Rofl, they are awful.

Ooh, really? And yet with all that money they must earn, I still hate most of the clothes they dress Kris in, and I'm sure one of the others claimed he was the best-dressed.

I think they look kool. Anyway H;oaks is the only soap to be shown in the USA.

How much do the other soaps cost per episode? It'd be interesting to compare them all...

Of all the soaps, Hollyoaks is the only one I watch with any regularity. Money well spent, then

xP.
But will people in the USA watch it?

It does very well out of it. It's supposed to have the highest advertising slot price for any pre-7pm show due to the number of 16-34 year olds watching.

not just the USA its shown in

Quote:
“Hollyoaks is also shown in other countries, such as Canada, on the BBC Kids channel and in 2007 is set to start up in the United States on BBC America in June as well as in parts of Eastern Europe including Ukraine.”

It's supposed to be quite popular in New Zealand as well.

In the USA, they're starting off with the explosion in the Dog.

But your not comparing like for like. The £250,000 per episode for Eastenders, is to actually make the episode. It is then shown twice on BBC One, then on BBC Three, then repeated on UK Gold.

The figure for Hollyoaks above, is the price per episode divided by the times it is shown. Per episode to make it costs around £61,500 per episode.

Though i do agree, Hollyoaks is better value of money. But you only have to look at recent contracts that Eastenders have given to see where the money is going.

Sorry your right about this. I forgot to divide EE cost by 3 times! The UKtv gold showing does not count as this is a private channel and pays for the pay-tv rights.

The reall cost of EE per episode is £83,333 which is still much higher than H'oaks!

H'oaks costs £16 million pounds a year for 260 episodes. It is easy to work out how much each episode costs.
