"Darkness on the edge of town" for me. Funnily enough, when asked in an interview, it was the one that Bruce said he would like to re-record.

Thats a good album as well, I much prefer his older stuff like that. I also like lucky town.
BTW Does anyone know the Bruce documentary DVD that ends with him playing better days in like a studio setting with Patti playing as well. I thought it was the blood brothers DVD but its not.

It's another Bruce one.....Dublin RDS 2003. Other excellent shows for me include KT Tunstall at Newcastle Academy in October 2005 and Mary Chapin Carpenter's first night at Hammersmith in May of 95.
Having said all that,finally got to see REO Speedwagon last night and what a cracking show that was as well! They played everything you wanted to hear......Take It On The Run,Keep On Loving You,Time for Me To Fly,Music Man,Back On The Road Again,Riding The Storm Out,just one brilliant night. Kevin said it sure as hell won't be another twenty two years before they play here again! Only downside was the support,Macara,personally I thought they were crap and did nothing for me whatsoever!

The greatest concert I ever went to was James Brown at Hamersmith, he was sensational, while the audience struggled to keep up with his pace, while he came on stage at 8.15 & finished at 11.30.
Strangely, the worst concert I went to was also James Brown this time at, The Fridge in Brixton & a few years later & not long after his arrest. He was obviously out of his head on Angel dust at the time & was all over the place didn't know what he was singing, coming in at the wrong time, forgetting the words, etc etc & it was awful to see him like that & it really was very sad because I knew how great he was from seeing him at Hamersmith.

I was at the 98 show. Had already seen Plant twice with his own band - that was brilliant too.
I've now seen Patti Smith 3 times & each time I think she gets better (and I thought she was fantastic the first time).
I've been to literally hundreds of gigs over the years and several are memorable for different reasons. However the one that sticks out in particular was The Velvet Underground at Edinburgh Playhouse in 1994 I think. To see the original line-up was something else. Sterling Morrison died a few years later so it's never going to happen again.

Was there at Knebworth. Brilliant concert.
George Micheal- superb.
Gareth Gates- fantastic live performance.
Rod Stewart(not a fan but just one of those performers I wanted to see)- Maggie May rocked the NEC.
Saw Robert Plant with Steve Gibbons at my local community centre a few years back(Planty lives in my area). It was a local gig and both got up on stage and were fantastic. Neither wanted to leave they were enjoying it so much.
All that and a buffet for £5.00!!
Although i dont go to many Gigs, nowadays, been to plenty in my time , here is a selection
1 Various Gary Glitter, Concerts over the years from 77 onwards,
Whatever you say about him now, and everyone, has had their say., if you saw GGlive at his peak, he was excellent live, he even managed to win the Punks over when they used to gob at him (apprentley thats the Punks way of appreciating people) , but used to go to his Gangshow, every Xmas right up to 97, was even there on his last tour appropiately entitled "Could this be the last time"
But have absoultey no time whatsoever for him now.
2 Glitter Band Cheltenham/Gloucester 75
As this was my first Concert i ever saw and was a massive fan of the Band , was really excited of going to see one of the top bands at the time live on stage,
Thought they were really good too. (Gerry shephard 51/03)
3 Slade Hammersmith odeon 82,
Always wanted to see Slade live as a kid , and i saw them at one of their last Concerts they had long stopped being a Glam band by then and were more a Rock band, great show,(still got the programme) sung some of early hits , but mainly stuff from the Sos album(Slade on StaGE)
Great gig too.
4 Madonna at Wembley in 90 (this incidentley was the show that shocked RAdio 1
)
The bit that i can remember the best believe it or not was the Like a Virgin when she was bouncing up on the bed, funny how i can remember that bit
5 Les gray (Mud lead singer) memorial concert in 2004 ??
this was a really excellent tribute concert to Les with loads of singers bands paying tribute to him among others
Andy scotts Sweet, Rubettes, Suzi quarto, among many others
6 Adam ants in the Prince charming revue
In the early 80,s Adam ant tried to do(and although lost money did an excellent job) a pantomine around Xmas 81
which at the time was really spectacular, if ott,
Thought it was excellent myself.
7 Kaisers at Shepheards bush Empire, March 07,
OMG , WHAT A SHOW, and Ricky really puts a lot in to the Show, even if he isnt as good as some of the above

Probably for me it was Frankie Goes to Hollywood in 1985 in Bournemouth I was only 19 at the time and the first time anybody really big had visited the area whilst they were still big. The atmosphere was electric. Have to agree with Robbedin 73 regarding Gary Glitter, his shows were fantastic, it is a shame he turned out to be what he is now.
Lynyrd Skynyrd. Every show has always been out of the top draw, but the 1st time at the Rainbow Theatre in 74 was magical. Of course the Knebworth show blew everyone off stage inc the Stones (Freebird from that show still the most requested VT ever on the Old Grey Whistle Test).
Bob Seger in Hammersmith in 76 was full of energy.
Tom Petty at Aylesbury Friars was a performance to savour.

I think for a lot of people 'gigs' evoke so many memories of certain times in their lives.
For me
Bruce Springstein - Roundhay Park - July '85.... just amazing. Being only 17 and feeling the power of the music, just overwhelming.
Level 42..... the complete package. Mark King is a legend. Seen them many,many times from Wembley to Circus Tavern to Albert Hall.
Darren Hayes....if you've been to his solo gigs you'll know why.
U2..... Joshua Tree and Popmart Tours.... no words required
And finally George .... on Saturday.... you rocked.

I can't say that any one gig I've attended has been the 'greatest' as such. I know it's a cop-out, but I really just can't think of any one group being crowned champion of my 'live' experiences.

Supertramp - Earls Court 1982 or 83 (damn memory). It was their last concert - at least in the original line up - and was an excellent show. They were/are very underated.
Johnny Clegg - South African (known as the white zulu) who had one or two hits i this country (Scatterlings of Africa for sure). Got a couple of resale tickets right at the front at the Hammy Odeon. The songs and rhythms were amazing as was the dancing. It was soon after Nelson mandela's release from prison so te crowd were very up. He did one of his major songs called "Asimbonanga" (or some thing like that) which translates as "We Have Not Seen Him" which concerned Mandela - very moving.
Buddy Guy - Albert Hall (with Eric Clapton), Hammy Odeon, Crystal Palace Bowl (4th of July do with Pop Staples, Johnny Winter and the late Albert Collins) and best of all the Town and Country Club - a cosy venue which the best guitarist of all just ruled.
The Eurythmics - Annie lennox making the Wembley Arena sound good.

Bad Manners in South Shields 2003 was a classic also.
The Levellers, Sunderland 1998 was great was Fear Factory in Newcastle 2006 as well.
