The Silver Clef concert? I was there... yup, it was excellent

Which is why for me it will always be my first concert - Genesis at Knebworth, 1978 (with about half a dozen support bands including Tom Petty... )... the beginning of my Genesis obsession... just standing there and feeling the music resonating through my legs and quite literally into my heart... I just hope my kids feel the same way about them at Twickenham this Sunday

I can think of two posibilities, the actual video for Better Days, there has only been one Bruce documentary DVD, which was, as you say Blood Brothers, or the MTV Plugged performance.

OMD in 1991 at Poole Arts Centre. Absolutely amazing.

Reading 98 - New Order on the final night. Was right at the front, was in absolute awe at how good they were. Even with Keith Allen pratting about with them.

New Order again, at the NYC Hammerstein Ballroom in May '05, with the Scissor Sisters hanging around on stage. Top stuff. Just wish I were nearer the stage!

Um..everyone else I've been to has been a bit average. That's the problem with large arenas...no atmosphere.

I've been to loads.

Stand-outs were
Pink Floyd both mid 1980s and Pulse tour.
The first Pop Proms back in the early 1970s - Led Zepellin, just before LZ2 was released - only time I got to see them live
Queen at Wembley

However the one that remains in my memory was a show at the Palladium in 1989 with Duane Eddy and the Crickets. The reason being that the Crickets played along with the cast of Buddy. I often wonder what it must have been like for them, playing along with "themselves" as they were 30 years earlier.

this has to be a winner - saw it at Celtic Park.

regardless of whether or not you like you U2, the absolute scale of the show was unprecedented, and has pretty much remained so.

other great sets would be :

the white stripes at Glastonbury in 04.

or for sheer big grin, total enjoyment fun factor, the go! team at oxford brookes a year or so ago.

Ted Leo and The Pharmacists - last week, King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, Glasgow.

Yes, it was only last week, but I believe that it was one the best concerts I have been in attendance for.

Everything from the band to the venue was just perfect.

Have to agree with Neil Jones - saw Bruce in the summer of 1985 at Wembley and he was outstanding. To command such a large crowd for 3 hours was brilliant. Brings back lots of great memories.

Also saw the late great Marvin Gaye in the early 80's at a small venue near Victoria Station - he was absolutely fantastic. Stands out as the other favourite of mine

Got to agree with a couple of the earlier postings - Slade were AWSOME live. Not a 'glam' band at all but a hard-rocking rock band. Hammersmith in '82 was superb, as was the Lyceum (same year?) when U2 were the support act! Come on Nod, get the guitar out again!

Best massive gig I've been to was Noise & Confusion at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff in December 2005. Oasis topped the bill on surprisingly good form, Foo Fighters were on before them and were as amazing as always, before them were Razorlight when they weren't yet too annoying, and there was also the Coral who were good that day and the Subways who put in a great performance. But what made it great was the atmosphere.

Best festival probably Glastonbury '98, if only for the three headliners - Primal Scream, Blur and Pulp, and the fact that it was my first taste of Glasto and you can't beat that, although this year's comes close after some great sets by CSS and Kasabian.

But I'd say the best gig I've ever been to was just last month, Art Brut at the Astoria. Seen them a few times now and they always blow me away, but that time was by far the best.

Rod Stewart at the Millenium Stadium last saturday was phenominal.I was right at the front and the atmosphere was electric and Rod rocked! Was also lucky to see the Pretenders at the same gig, so i got to see two of my favourite singers for the price of one!

A few that spring to mind (been to 100 odd in last 15 years) are Gene's last gig in London a couple of years ago, Suede's parting gesture at the end of 2003. Pulp were always fantastic live, and recently I have been getting into Aqualung who played a storming gig at Bush Hall in London just last eve.

And the power and performance by Bruce and the E street band on songs like Out on the street and cadellic ranch are still are etched in my memory.”

Got to disagree with you,i was at the concert at wembley on the 4th of july,i was on the pitch near the front and it was a amazing concert but i went to the millimium stadium in Cardiff on the 14th of june 2008 and saw a concert that was even better that the 4th July 1985.
Yes Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band have got better as the years went on.
I cannot believe that a 58 yr old Bruce springsteen can still perform like a 36yr old (3 hrs on stage again )and have the crowd howling for more
and yes i did have several tears in my eyes through out the concert, this is the stuff memorys are made from.
I saw Queen on July 12th 1986 at wembley and couldn't decide which concert was the best ,now Bruce is back at the top of my list.

The Pink Fairies - Marquee wardour street 1976 (supported by The Stranglers)
one of the greatest and littlelest know rock bands ever, blew the place away!

Slade -Hammersmith Odeon 1977 (yeah they were one of the great live bands!)

T.rex - The Rainbow 1977 (supported by the Damned)
Herbie flowers on Bass Bolan back to his best

Thin Lizzy -Roundhouse 1978
Saw them many times always rocked out big time!

Misty in Roots - Ealing College 1977
John Peels fave reggae band. Really atmospheric

Chuck Berry - Hammersmith Odeon 1974
Played guitar like ringing a bell

The Sweet - Imperial college 1974
Like Slade became a heavy duty rock band post glam rock

Denis Lecorriere (Dr Hook Singer) - the Mean fiddler 1994?
a great singer and entertainig talk between songs created a really warm atmosphere

The Dubliners - Mean Fiddler 1995
A lovely intimate atmosphere. Broke down the barrier between audience and performer. Chatty and funny. THEN when the fast stuff started they took the roof off and the audience went with em.

How does everyone remember the dates.
A few of the most recent I have been to are David Bowie, Sting,Marti Pellow and in November off to see the stranglers but I have a feeling it won't quite be the same this time around...

I went to see Elbow last June, it was memorable for me because it was in a forest location and they were note perfect.

Guy Garvey had a great rapport with the crowd, he even proposed for one of the blokes in the crowd to the bloke's girlfriend.

The only drawback..it was FREEZING!

Arcade Fire at MEN Arena in Manchester last October was pretty special too.

I was very impressed by The Cure at the Apollo in Manchester,

Alice in Chains, Glasgow Barrowlands 1994. They let in under 18s (they tended to do this with rock/HM bands) which made the atmosphere even better.

NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK at wembley in the early 90's!

And their new shows will top that!

I would have to say Robbie Williams at Knebworth 2003...

We're right near the front of that lot; somewhere near the jutting out bit It's quite amazing when you see it on video afterward as you really don't get get the impression of size when you are there. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQxZztI7264

Most the people I like you get a couple of winos and a stray dog turn up to see...

Oh and I saw S Club 7, where I think I was older than the combined age of the entire audience
